Is this where you try and tell me that he could play the 3?
Anthony Bennett is NOT a small forward. If we were to draft him and put him there, it'd be one of the biggest mistakes this franchise ever made. He'd be an Aminu clone, and a husky one, at that.
While i agree with u it would be a terrible idea to put bennette at SF, it is because he is too slow to defend the perimeter, but he is in no way a aminu clone, they are actually exact opposites besides their great rebounding ability. aminu is way more athletic, aminu is longer, bennette is compactly built, aminu cant shoot, bennette can, aminu has great D, Bennette does not
The sheer fact that Bennett is offensively competent is more than enough to dispel any Aminu comparisons. If anything he'd be a Derrick Williams type.
Strange how often you hear people make Aminu, Ariza, or Julian Wright comparisons through the years.
Kinda can't see past our own faces it seems.
Bennet almost has that Paul Millsapp feel personally. I haven't seen D Williams play even when he was in college.

Interesting read on Oladipo about his work ethic. I might be coming around on this guy.
List in order....porter,shabazz,smart/Burke,Len
A lot of people gave him flack for not jumping up and down when what's his name took and made that shot. But I wonder if I've ever seen Kobe do that or, maybe more importantly, if it's something I'd think Kobe is capable of.
Because, let's be real, Muhammad is the best player on his team. Other guys are nice. But he's the go to guy. And from accounts he wants to be the go to guy. He wants the rock in the clutch. That's the first step to actually becoming clutch. And when he doesn't get the ball, maybe he felt like the game was just put in the less capable hands.
I dunno. Just rambling.
But he's reasserted himself high on my wishlist. McLemore and Otto are still higher than him. But he ranks right in there with Oladipo, Smart, Burke, and Noel.
Right now I would be happy with either Otto or Bazz. Either one will be an upgrade and add the dynamic of perimeter shooting and play-making ability that we need.
Ya well once again with our cap space and most likely top 5 pick in mclemore, porter, bazz, smart, or noel our future looks awesome.
Bazz has scored 21 points in each of his last 4 games and UCLA is on a 5 game win streak, kid can ball, he has that killer winning mentality like Kobe.
his measurement is gonna be key at the combine. if he's 6'6" people are gonna question what position he is. 6'7" people can see him more as a SF. one inch seems so small but it makes a big difference to teams. no denying he's probably going to be the best scorer at the next level
Ya well right now is is 6"6 with a 7"0 wingspan and great size at 225, he is only 18, if he can grow another inch or wear some big shoes to put him at 6"7 or 6"7.5 itll definetly help him lol, but if he does in fact measure 6"7 I want him to be our pick hands down, at 6'7 with a 7ft wingspan i think u can play SF in this league which is becoming smaller, Iggy is only 6"6 and he did it.
Porter's last 5 games:
33-8-2
22-5-4
28-8-2
17-4-5
10-8-7
dude is balling, he really can score, pass, defend and rebound.
Shabazz last 6 games:
25-5
11-3-1
21-7-1
18-3
14-3
21-6
idk who i want out of him or porter.
Man draft night will be so much fun:-)
Shabazz has a scoring knack that this team has NEVER had before. I literally don't see young players in the league with his skill right now. His athleticism and scoring reminds me of Pierce a lot. Between him Davis, Anderson, Gordon, and Rivers if he develops good could combine to be a great scoring team with a ton of options.
Are people placing Shabazz over Mclemore because he is more of a SF?
I really don't think Shabazz can play SF effectively in this league.. therefore ill rather trade Gordon and pick up Mclemore..
The guys A beast, hit 5+ threes twice in his last 3 games and has got crazy athleticism. Although he is 21 years of age.
The NBA is starting to go smaller than normal, allowing athleticism to sometimes make up for tangibles like physical attributes. Shabazz is offense waiting to happen. Defense will come later with hopefully a good head on his shoulders an willingness to learn.
I think Shabazz in more than capable of playing the 3... more so than McLemore. If McLemore could honestly grow a few more inches (doubtful) I'd have no problem taking either of these dudes to be the offense at the 3 that we need. But if we're committed to Gordon (which we obviously are) then I don't think we need McLemore.
What scares me about shabazz is that he's a horrible defensive rebounder. You put him on the court with jennings gordon and lopez (or anderson instead of lopez, changes nothing) and teams will be feasting like vultures on our defensive glass. I'd rather porter myself anyway
Bazz or porter. Smart or Burke. Really good problem to have.
Well I was looking for some advanced NCAA stats to prove or disprove that Bazz DRB angle, and found this:
http://www.valueaddbasketball.com/
Basically a devised metric to show what players mean the most to their teams. Guess who is #1? :coolg:
Umm according to this, exactly half of his rebounds per game have been defensive. Not that 2.5 is enough, but it's half of his rebounds.
http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/pla...abazz-muhammad
I like our small ball we've been playing cause of injuries. I think McLemore could easily guard the 3 even at 6'5. Hell they are talking of moving Vasquez to SF. I doubt I'd move off my board of McLemore, smart, porter, then Bazz.
If we play Mason at the 3 for stretches, I'm pretty sure Bazz can do te same.
This draft is not bad as people think.
Not at all if your team gets a top 7 or so pick. After that there's a drop-off and I think that is what is giving this class a weak grade. I personally like a few players in our range so I'm very happy and don't see why the national media thinks this class is irrelevant.
Agreed, this draft has value in the top 10, outside of that it blows.
Because the media loves those S Word players. The guys that are super sniper elite. They don't like guys who are B and C players. Though there are some high potential types like a Paul George.
Shabazz may be different after an off-season where he doesn't have distractions. He has the skills. It's whether or not he has the natural athleticism to really be a showcase piece in the NBA. Because just watching him, it's like watching a guard-sized version of Big Baby; he uses his body well but he ain't gonna wow you.
Good comparison.
I just want a damn wing who can shoot from the arc. Both Bazz and Porter can do that.
i really like the bazz paul pierce comparison.
