I live in the DC area been here for 8 yrs.....the MFs have a losing culture....LOL.
You'll often find it's hard to teach a brick to float.
No. Monty is not as crisp on his game rotation as I wish, but I've seen several mental errors all around the board as well as just a general talent/athleticism gap between us and the elite teams. It's why a move for Cousins, Jennings, and/or Josh Smith doesn't look so bad more than half the time. We'd kill to have an S-Jax or Ginobli as starters and those guys come off the Spurs bench normally.
Gotta have talent in this game to win. Even the most put together team to win a title in the last decade or so had talented players leading the charge. (Detroit)
eric gordon 2nd half stats: 0/3 with 2 turnovers
lol at McNamara saying Gordon can't carry the whole load based on one game.
We aren't breading a losing culture with losses like these. We are learning how not to win sure, but we aren't breading losers. We are young and inexperienced. We will get better and have the coaching to help the players to get there. That is something the Wizards never had.
Gordon's insistance on over dribbling...trying to shake people when its clear he's still not at that point where his speed or handle is 100%....in the second half thats what you saw. Led to costly turnovers. His jumper was falling in the first half don't know why some of these guys start coming out in the 2nd half and totally stope what they were doing offensively which was working. Only thing they needed to adjust was defense. Going to Lopez like 3-4 possessions to start the 2nd half was baffling. Dude is not offensively skilled enough to try and "get him gong" down low against an elite team like the Spurs.
Spurs made the adjustment and collapsed everytime Gordon drove the ball. Considering Aminu was the other wing on the floor its great strategy and ill be surprised if other teams dont use it.
I think the lakers this year are prime example that you need need the right players more than the best players, pau and dwight both playing like crap and the team isn't winning with 2-4 hall of famers. Great players are not always going to be great, there is more that goes into it
Ill be dam monty needs to atleast change up his staff then cause he needs help point blank period
That's some grade A crap you're spewing out of your mouth. Sacramento and Cleveland both has a lot of talent and is still struggling heavily. The Lakers are one of the most loaded team in the league with some of the best players in the league and yet they are losers.
Worry not. I caught it. Didn't really acknowledge it, but I certainly did. Hehe.
He's in favor of moving Gordon. Gordon's once great attribute was how explosive he was. I hope he hasn't totally lost it. Otherwise, I might start to lean to that side of things as well.
We are young and will lose games but it does not take a basketball genius to figure out the head coach is making so very questionable decisions and it is glaring when it comes to the 4th quarter which is where 90% of NBA games are decided. Tonight the Spurs were without Timmy and Leonard not to mention their head coach who is probably one of the best of all time yet we are out coached. I believe we had enough talent to win tonight but when you see retarded decisions like putting X in the game in the 4th quarter with the game nearly tied you got to wonder what the hell is going on in Monty's brain? When you have GV guarding Parker while our best defender is off on the base line watching Parker take over the game single handily you have to look at your Head coach and question if he knows what he is doing. Can you imagine this type of coaching if this was a playoff game?
Lakers are a strange case. New coach with a completely different system during the season, injuries, a lack of depth, and an old team. Clearly chemistry matters but bad chemistry and losing culture isn't the same. If anything what franchise has a better culture of winning than the Lakers?
Everybody gets into tiffs man. No biggie. We're cool.
And yeah... The GSW loss and this loss are 2 really tough ones to take. Same problems both times. I think we should trade Vasquez while his value is at an all-time high, and put all of our eggs in the Brandon Jennings basket. If that fails, draft either Marcus Smart or Trey Burke with our 1st round pick. Vasquez, while he does a lot of good, is just too limited as a player - especially defensively. He puts up a nice looking stat line, but that doesn't tell the tale. Also, he is a major style clash with Monty. Just totally opposite of what he wants in a PG. Can't run the break, doesn't anticipate passes, can't defend, not athletic.....
And no. This isn't a knee-jerk reaction from me. This is something I've proposed for a while now.
I kinda saw this coming, though. The Spurs own quite an advantage over our backcourt and with Duncan being out, I pretty much expected a steady diet of pick and roll and drive and kick from them. Which is Lopez's matchup nightmare, so it doesn't shock me to see him as a nonfactor.
Not having Duncan out there practically dictates them to attack our weakness as a team. Vasquez attempting to guard Parker was comedy at its finest.
That's lame.... Where did he say that? Gordon has won us many more games than he has lost us this year. He still isn't healthy, and it's noticeable. Guy is only getting like 28 minutes a game or something like that. Once he gets his legs back, he'll be fine. At least his shot is starting to come back.
The Lakers blow chunks....
You knew the Spurs were gonna clamp down and they did. Woulda been more happy letting Gordon just iso the last 5 mins of the game instead of running the sets we were running, which the Spurs had obviously figured out how to defend.
Watching Vasquez run aimlessly into screen after screen was doing my head in, even at the 3pt line guarding a guy who doesnt shoot the 3 well he doesn't go under the screen. It's pathetic.
Rivers got some unlucky bounces out there today, I like how hes getting into the paint lately.
I've said this multiple times....he needs a offensive oriented assistant coach on the bench with him. Monty is good a defense but offensive sets he struggles. Everything seems either really predictable or looks like he's out thinking himself. I mean look at when he inserted Henry.....WTF was that. When was the last time he even played? And you put him out there in the 2nd half...against the Spurs...when your already struggling to score....thats called out thinking yourself. Grasping for straws when all you had to do was put a starter or 2 in the game to stop the bleeding....No switching Gordon onto Parker after the first 5min made you predictable therefore Parker ate him for lunch.....
tough loss in a game we could have easily won down the stretch, but the spurs are 19-2 at home.. big game hosting houston on friday
Lakers are a prime example of what having a great head coach can produce. I we all thought the lakers would be at the top or close to the top in the Western conference right now but they are a complete mess with a allstar team put together. It's about having a coach with the ability to use the talents he has and a scheme to make them great. I think too many people think another good draft and FA signing will make all the difference, and we probably will win more games but we will never be a contender with the in game management skills I see from Monty.
The ENTIRE load. Please at least put the argument in the best light and then attack it. Tony Parker got his own and created for others in that final stretch, accounting for 10 of the 12 Spurs points in that final run that won it. Gordon can get his own shot and hit at the end of games, but please dont confuse that with the truly elite closers in the league.
It is not an insult to say a player is not elite. He is very, very good. But if you were making a list of top closers in the NBA and you put Gordon in the top 5-8, then you are just being biased and optimistic IMO
I wonder if Cleveland is dumb enough to trade Kyrie Irving for Gordon, Aminu, Lopez, and Vasquez. :huh2:
Cuz if not I got this big cartoon mallet...
Gordon should've had more than 8 shots.
Someone I haven't really heard anyone talk about, our offense fell apart when Greivis decided to drive and score rather than drive and dish.
In the first half Greivis was 2-3 for 5 points, 10 assist, and 1 turnover. In the second half Greivis was 4-10 for 10 points, 1 assist, and 2 turnovers.
Call it hero ball if you want, but Greivis needs to look for others, not himself.
And McNamara is 100% right, Gordon can't carry the load. How many guys are in the NBA that can?
