Sac folks are calling this move a "change in culture". They're trading pretty much everyone,. and they waived Matt Barnes. It seems they're cleaning the slate and starting out fresh.
I understand the frustration of letting Boogie go but the thought of a rebuild has to be pretty exciting. I doubt they'll lure free agents there so all they have is the draft and trades. Good luck to the Kings.
It's not a change in culture, unless their new "culture" is going to be winning 15-20 games for the next decade while fans disappear into the bowels of apathy, or just give up on the train wreck.
This is the best thing we could have hoped for. The Pelicans made a move. Cousins brings toughness and elite offense and defense at the 5 position, freeing AD up to do whatever he wants. The league is in trouble now!
The Kings have been rebuilding since 2006!!! Traded Reke for nothing. Traded current two time All Star Isaiah Thomas for nothing. Blew numerous picks on guys like Hawes, and chumps like Jason Thompson and Jimmer who are playing in China!! Don't let me forget Thomas Robinson with the 4th pick in the draft. Passed on Curry. Passed on Leonard. Passed on Klay. Passed on Lillard. I can go on and on. ONLY good thing we got in that decade was Boogie, a HOF level talent who rarely WANTED to stay in Sac, and we moved him for Hield??? All due respect to him but that's insane! Insane levels of insane!!
So why would Sac fans want another decade of futile rebuilding with a FO who has no clue how to draft or what they're doing?? Laughing stock!! Boogie is the most talented player Sac has drafted since they arrived in 1985!!! Could be another 30 years until we get a similar talent. Then what, we finally get another top player in 2033 and Vivek randomly one night decides to blow it up because it's not jazzy enough??
To be fair, this is probably the best situation for both teams. We get a top 10 talent, the Kings get a fresh start. Could they have gotten more? Perhaps. But now they can rebuild without Boogies shadow cast over them.
Does this trade remind anyone else of the Baron Davis trade, where we got peanuts for a top 5 talent? Only this time we are the Warriors and the Kings are the Hornets.
I was completely surprised last night. But happy as could be.
Seattle might be getting a team again,if the Kings dont sell tickets.
I wish
Wow I can't believe this just happened. Cousins and AD on the same team!!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! Unreal right now. I'm in total disbelief.
Was listening to ESPN NOLA with Gus Kattengell and he brought up some interesting points. Between Davis and Cousins, who will be the Alpha? Will it be AD's team or Cousin's team? Can Cousins take a backseat after being the centerpiece in Sacramento? When it comes down to the final shot, who takes it?
Trade is "Official" now folks. NBA signed off on the deal.
Will he be available Thursday?
<---------- Stumbles in from his multi year slumber. Wow.
As this sinks in I can't believe how awesome it is. This is the kind of things you see happening for the Lakers and Celtics. When was the last time a small market team pulled of a coup like this? I can't remember any. Its usually the big market teams getting these deals.
Bravo Demps, you may have just saved that job.
Divac: "We had better offers two days ago"
:hihi:
cousins have more made 3s than buddy does......i didnt know that...
I read and in-depth article on Cousins in Sacramento. There is one section that talks about how the Kings owner talked to Cousins about playing 4 on 5 defense. So they could 'cherry pick' points at the other end.
That is the pure definition of dysfunction.
And MM I keep my money. Trading the 2017 1st here doesn't count. This was a fleecing of an organization that shouldn't be employed and Dell took advantage. Even if it meant parting with that 1st.
At least it looks that way now.
I posted it here >>> http://www.pelicansreport.com/showth...idn-t-work-out
It's long but its also a great read on how dysfunctional the Kings organization is.
Does this mean we get Heather Graham roller skating around the SKC?

The real justice will come from the double secret tank. Boogie sets an NBA record for technical fouls, hence missing all sorts of games. AD misses the last two weeks, and a depleted roster fails to make the playoffs. Then the Pels win the lottery and Vlade has to wait until next year to bring home the rest of the bacon.
Kobe was a six time champion and all time great. There's a lot of karma built up to cash in here.
I read he'll join the team tomorrow. Not sure what that does for his availability Thursday but he'll be in the building tomorrow.
I feel sorry for that franchise. I think Benson knows more basketball than the Kings owner does. And that is scary.Quote:
(Worth noting: It was also during this time that Ranadive wanted Sacramento to experiment with playing 4-on-5 defense, leaving one King on the other end to cherry-pick for baskets.)
What about Casspi? Is he injured? if so how seriously? will he play? last time he became a pelican he didnt play a second
Now, Pelicans need a SG and a PG, what about Nicolás Laprovittola (a 6'4 PG of the Argentina national team)? He was with the Spurs till Dejonte Murray's ascent. He's now in Baskonia of the Spanish League but I think he has a clause to go free to NBA. http://www.pelicansreport.com/showth...t=laprovittola

Get you a tshirt! Go easy I helped design!
I think the ball will go through Holiday > Cousins > Davis, in that order for a lot of possessions. Cousins will eventually be seen as the 'ball stopper' but it will be more effective than what we had.
Cousins being the second facilitator will be pretty nice and resolve a lot of the spacing concerns people have. But I can only speculate, not sure what the offense will look like when its implemented.
I can't wait to see them play Houston Thursday night. We need to beat them.

Favorite thing I read today from the ringer...
The Winner
Make no mistake: The Kings got fleeced. Hield is a rookie shooting guard (a 23-year-old rookie, at that) who has a pretty obvious ceiling as a useful spot-up shooter. Sacramento has already ridden the Tyreke Evans roller coaster. That Pelicans first-rounder might not be that attractive if Cousins and Anthony Davis go full Godzilla-Mothra on the Western Conference.
Godzilla-Mothra lol
So is it even possible for us to land pg13 next offseason?
Signing PG outright is not an option, unless you get JRue, Solo and Asik completely off the payroll. It will have to be an S&T, but Pacers will most likely trade him in the summer 2017, if he told them, he's leaving or "testing" FA, to a team, that would expect to re-sign him. Pacers still hold 35% contract card. Let's see, if they think, he's worth that.
