Saw this on another site (pure speculation). How would you chaps feel about:
BULLS: Lonzo Ball + #4 pick
PELS: Laurie Markannen + #7 pick
I would be running to the league office to accept that. Funny enough, I found it on a pro-Bulls site.

The Knicks never made a formal offer. The Celtics decided to go with more certainty and build around Tatum. They didn't offer a ton. It looks like the Lakers bid up the price against themselves.
The incoming Laker players are good, but it's the draft picks that make this an amazing trade package. That pick haul is Celtics/Nets level. If the Lakers have a key injury, those picks will be gold. They'll be so salary shackled, trading out of trouble will be nearly impossible for them.
NY and Boston were smart to back off. Beating that offer would be franchise-crippling.
From the NY Post:
"The Knicks never made a formal offer to the Pelicans for center Anthony Davis on the teams’ latest round of trade talks, according an NBA official.
While the Knicks had interest in the superstar center, talks with New Orleans’ new general manager, David Griffin, were preliminary and brief ever since he began soliciting offers two weeks ago. Davis is headed to the Lakers after Saturday’s blockbuster agreement.
The sense is the Knicks believed they could not match the demands of the Pelicans and essentially backed off."

After the Knicks didn't get the #1 pick it basically put them in a very hard spot. Especially when the Lakers won the pick right below them. If the Lakers hadn't jumped up so much and/or the Knicks got pick #2 maybe they could have gotten a deal to work. The Lakers desperation really pushed other teams to their limits. I don't think anyone expected the Lakers to give up their entire future.
I just don't know if Beal is realistic this offseason. Maybe by the deadline next year. But we'd have to give up almost everything we just got, I figure to have a shot. And I really don't wanna do that. That's a win now move. And we aren't there yet.
I only raise the notion that by the the deadline we can maybe get him because what if we are a much better team than most expect and says he wants out? And also what if we trade down with the 4th pick like I expect us to do, and snag a Shae Gilgeous-Alexander type player who becomes a hot commodity for a team who needs to get younger and cheaper like the Wizards?
Things can change rapidly in the NBA.
I don’t understand everyone’s willingness to dump Ball and the 4th. Balls upside with the Pelicans is massive. He will actually have the ball. Is has as a distributor without Lebron. He can dish to Holiday. He can dish to Ingram. Best of all.... he will be dishing dimes to Zion. His defense is also incredible. Keep Ball and the 4th. There is no need to make any moves right now. Any move for anyone other than Beal which isn’t going to happen is unrealistic at this point in time.
Levar Ball said NOLA on the Jersey means No LA for his son
Don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but I just saw that we will get either a $11 million or $4 million trade exception depending on how the trade is structured that we could give up to increase our cap space to $23 million. So if we wanted to go after a max level guy on his first big contract we could do that. I hope we do that unless we trade for someone cause we need to take advantage of having Zion on his rookie deal IMO. I want DLo and then possibly move Ball. If we could move Ball with Hill that would be ideal. Or if we move that 4th pick I hope we can move Hill with that.
I agree , Ball is elite when it comes to passing and defense you can’t teach that he needs to improve his shooting but that can be done he was actually a decent shooter in college . Ball is perfect in Gentry’s system and most importantly Gentry loves him , Ball isn’t going anywhere so stop suggesting trades with him it’s not happening .

I get the enamore with Ball but look at whose been winning championships the last decade... has any of those teams done it with a starting PG who shoots as poorly as Zo?? I like Garland with the 4th pick, guy reminds me a lot of Trae and Curry.
I agree with your take on Ball. I like him and I like his game. I would like him for this team.....if not for Elfrid. I absolutely love Payton. I think the two are too similar for this team. Now I know, Elfrid has to sign and want to return. But what would you rather:
Elfrid Payton, Laurie Markannen, #7 pick
Or
Ball, #4 pick (and nothing else because Payton walks for nothing
It's a very clear top option for me.

Pelicans could trade #4 pick in 2019 @nba draft for #6 pick (Suns) or #7 pick (Bulls) and acquire a 2020 protected 1st round selection from Phoenix or Chicago.
Suns/Bulls both strong interest in Darius Garland.
Deal similar to Dallas/ATL 2018 Doncic draft trade. pic.twitter.com/RLTh5ph5md
Fletcher is a doozy but I expect the pick to be traded
Well maybe it’s not a done deal yet. Woj tweeted that the Lakers are trying re-work the deal to create more cap space by possibly including Mo Wagner, Isaac Bonga, and/or Jemmerio Jones to us or other teams. If we think Mo Wagner could be a good backup center I might take him since his salary is low for 3 more years. But I’m sure they already offered him to us
No way in heck do I help the Lakers facilitate dumping those players. We agreed to terms, too bad for you. We have every reason in the world to not help them at all. Keep that 3rd max slot from being open.
Saw Lakers fans on twitter saying they are going to add Kuzma now. Not sure if true just throwing that out there.

This. And I think they may have a hard time finding anyone else to take those players either. Especially any team in the West. Any benefit you gain by getting a player on the cheap will be more than negated by the Lakers getting a 3rd max player. And its not like they have much to add to the players to sweeten the pot, except a few 2nd round picks. Lakers fans are like teenagers. They have a difficult time understanding the concept that "we don't have the money".
I wouldn’t want to help them either, but I’m sure someone would trade a 2nd round pick for Wagner since he went 25th in last years draft and has some value being a big that can help space the floor. The good thing is we would know if someone does since it sounds like they are trying to include him in our deal and we could possibly just take him instead. Not sure why they wouldn’t just trade him in a separate deal for 2nd round pick and then sell the pick. I know I would trade a late 2nd for him if I thought he could help my team. We could use a floor spacing big man to team with Zion at times, but yes I agree that we shouldn’t help them get more cap space. I just think Wagner would be easy to move either way, but maybe not.
I think he will get moved on draft night probably
I’d get kuz and flip Ingram. It’s not about helping them it’s about helping ourselves if we can get more assets to help the rebuild I’m all for it. We helped them by trading ad there.
My point is, will the little you gain from acquiring Wagner be worth setting the Lakers up with 3 max players? And once you give them that space, they'll always have it. Once Lebron retires, they'll still have Davis and the other max player, and they'll just replace Lebron with the next available FA max player. Why would any team want to have to compete against that? They've been complaining for years about having to deal with GSW?
Don't get taken in by the nonsense. Kuzma isn't important.
If someone would trade a second round pick for Wagner, good for them. Let them trade it to LA.
If Kuzma could easily be flipped, good for LA; let them flip him.
As far as we are concerned, the Lakers are currently in their best possible position: unable to sign another star, and likely to suck next year.
That is where we WANT them, because the worse they are, the more likely AD is to leave, and the more likely they are to suck circa the 2021 draft when we have that reverse protection on their pick.
Why would we take on their trash garbage end of bench players who will never see a minute on the floor, when it does pretty much NOTHING for us, but helps them sign another good player, thus reducing their odds of being trash in the future? It makes no sense.
I hear ya, but I think Wagner will likely get moved on draft night either way. If we think he could help us I would take him. He’s got potential, so someone will move a 2nd for him in the draft IMO. I would rather we take him than the Lakers make a deal to send all 3 to another team and Wagner develops into a good backup big or possibly even a starter.

There are alot of ways they can go with the picks and players they have. This next season will be fun no matter what.
Why couldn’t the Lakers just do a separate deal with Atlanta dealing Wagner, Jones, and Bonga for a 2nd round pick?
They possibly could but it would have to be before the AD trade. NO wants to run that trade through asap which is why LA is trying to make it a 3 team.
The other thing is I'm not positive they could do it separately because they have to send out a certain amount of money to match AD.
imo the 4th pick is more valuable than kuzma...we got what we wanted...AD and the lakers got what they wanted.....everyone was happy the day this trade was announced.......so like this thread title says,,deal done...let the lakers fix their own problems....
Well Larry Coon aka the guy that runs CBAFAQ and knows the most out of anybody about it that's not directly tied to the NBA just blew up the Lakers hopes.

Even if they trade EVERYBODY (including Kuzma) AND AD dropped his trade bonus.... The Lakers would still fall 2m short of the full max if the trade is done on July 6th.
Mo Wagner is 6'11... can run the floor, can put the ball on the floor, is a good passer AND can shoot. I'm just sayin...
