Pelicans looking to get a top 5 pick?

I would do Rivers for Green/17. That to me would be fair. It allows the Celtics to clear about $5m plus the rookie cap hold at 17. It also gives them a player that IMO has as much potential as any player they could grab at 17, Saric not included. Gotta remember, Austin is younger than Michael Carter Williams. Dude still has room to improve.

Well MM i would have to say your arguments are about as subjective as mine. Personally, i think you guys value Anderson way too much for a team with such gaping holes. It's as simple as that. I can't disagree or agree with which of the two players are better. They both have their weaknesses but similar in that they can stretch the floor. Nobody has even pointed out the fact that Anderson had a back injury last year, which is not a good thing for bigs getting up in age. I'm going to digress and say there is no way to really tell if it's a good or bad trade because we really didn't get to see much of Ryno last year with everyone playing and we only have a small recent sample of Jeff Green playing like the all star he has potential to be. The advanced stats are undebatable in terms of Ryno's being much better Career wise but don't take into account that Green was having heart problems early in his career and went off after he was diagnosed and treated. Also, he was asked to be the next Paul Pierce last year and of course his defense and shot percentage are going to suffer because he is no Paul Pierce and was trying to hard to make chicken salad out of chicken poo. Your argument is 9 out of ten times a player don't change when going to a new team. That's totally subjective but you are right there is a chance that he tries to be a ballhawk due to him being in a contract year. Although, the flip side is that his knock is inconsistency and inefficiency, so you'd think he would want to improve in those areas before his player option comes up.

Don't get me wrong. I will not be upset if this doesn't happen because Ryno is a valuable asset and there are a few options out there to fill the hole at SF at least as stop gaps.

All I see is conjecture and hope that he can become somebody else other than who he has been. So, are there any objective measures by which that argument can be made, or is it more a "Do the trade and hope for the best," kind of thing?

They actually play him at SG mostly. And with him only making 2 mil this year, he wont be the difference in them being able to sign a guy or not.

Now, if they do get a guy like Melo, would a notoriously cheap owner match a big contract if we threw one at Butler next summer? That is a good question.

I would set my sights on him. I think we end up with someone like Dudley as a stopgap this yr. Let Gordon prove value over first 20 games then trade him to clear space. Hell trade directly to bulls for butler and contract fillers to make it work.

I am sure you find stats to support any position you want. It is the analysis that I always question. So what does Anderson brings in terms of assists, steals and blocks? In this case it is also your facts. Career wise, Green averages more assists, steals and blocks than RA. Also, Green has better FG% but Anderson is a much better three point shooter.

So there's another guy that would trade Anderson + 1st round pick for Green, crazy world we're living in..

Assuming that AD is off limits in a trade (duh), is Ryno the best trade asset we have currently on the roster?

By February, he could be. Right now, though, I would say no because teams want to see him play first. I think it would go:

He has a brother who is 7'3 as well. He looks out of shape though and not very mobile. I don't think he'll make it in the NBA very long.

All depends on whether the Celtics are rebuilding or reloading. They have so many draft picks owed to them over the next few years, that they could really go either direction. If they think they can really get Melo, I think they trade out of this draft.

I believe the way it works is we would have to make the pick for the team we're negotiating with. That way we're trading a player and not necessarily a pick.

Yes. We would actually have to use the MLE first, then send this trade in.

Could resign Roberts using Bird Rights too to backup PG or risk it and trust Pierre with that role. Use MLE on a big. That would be a solid team.

Only if he accepted the biannual - which would either be 1 year for 2.1 mil or 2 yrs for 4.4

Basically, he would have to take a slight discount. But if he signed the one year, he would have early bird rights on him next summer and could take care of him then.

It could, but you have to actually give them SOMETHING for Green. Even if it's only Rivers.
