I seriously think the Mirotic move was huge for the franchise. It's not just a talent blow when you lose a superstar, its a body blow to your morale. Especially when you've been a long term losing franchise finally getting your first sniff of winning in years. All of your hope gets snuffed out. A big part of your team personality, a guy the lesser guys look to to pick them up when they struggle etc. You lose a guy like that and it becomes easy to quit. You feel cursed.
But now the front office goes out and makes a major acquisition like Mirotic, the Clippers wave the white flag in the interim, and all of a sudden its like the sun coming back out. Rather than curling up and tanking and letting the momentum die and be snuffed out, the Pels organization finally sent the message that we believe and we want to compete and we'll even go get you reinforcements. Everybody picks their heads up a little, gets a little bounce in their step. Everybody gets a little of their belief and fight back even before Mirotic laces them up.
