Congrats to Marcus for finally getting out of there.

Hindsight is 20/20 and it's really hard to place judgement in a vacuum. But to answer your question if i knew MCW was going to be the phenom that he is (albiet an injury concern) I'd probably take him; But we also need to realize that option pushes back our playoff timetable 2-3 years from what it is now. I love Jrue's game so im not regretful in that decision at all. We also have to take into account that we may have not taken Burke OR MCW. If everyone got the benefit of hindsight, Cavs probably take Dipo or MCW as well.
So bucks want Gordon and Rivers, LET's MAKE IT HAPPEN! I actually like the upside in Rivers and he has played decent this year but if moving him means we get rid of Gordon I'm all for it.Quote:

Yeah but the fruit hasn't ripened enough on this deal to judge to be fair. I liked the deal then and i still like the deal today. I don't view this as loss for us. I think we did exactly what we wanted to do, move out timetable up a year or two and honestly it may have been the directive given to him.
This.
If people knew how MCW or Burke would perform this year, they would have gone higher than they did.
Also, how would that trade look if everyone on the Pels was healthy, especially Holliday. That clouds everything too.
Look at next year. If Holliday and Anderson are healthy, and Gordon is another year removed from his knee problems, AD is a year older and better as is Rivers and maybe you add PJ to the mix if they don't trade him tomorrow and Evans settles into the lineup better than he has this year. If they can find another big to add to the rotation and they can stay healthy, look at that trade then.
Tue. Forgot about pierre. Your discounting mcw tho n that's not fair. He's producing at a high rate. Him being a top guy in steals is no fluke. Him going for a triple double a quite a few nights is no fluke. The kid is good and he's still a rookie. Yea he's 22 but it's about the nba experience not so much the age.
Been a Pelicans fan since the days in Charlotte. Demps is not perfect by any means, NO GM GETS EVERYTHING RIGHT. But he has done a far better job of trying to put a competitive team together than any of the other GMs have done. When we had a perfect big 3 in Johnson, Mourning, and Kendall Gill. They trade Gill for Hersey Hawkins. Stupid MOVE!!!! When we had Baron Davis, Eddie Jones, Jamal Mashburn, and PJ Brown we should have won more but didn't. Then what really pissed me off in 08' after watching Janerro Pargo play ball hog in the fourth quarter against the Spurs in game 7 to ruin the best season in franchise history, we had salary cap room, we did not really need to go out and give James Posey a ridiculous contract. They should have kept Tyson Chandler. Yes he had a problem staying healthy but if its not for him the Mavericks don't win their NBA title. Demps actually tries to build a roster from 1 - 12. I think the biggest mistake he has made so far was not trading up in the draft in 2012 to get Lillard.
I didn't see enough of the pre-injury Pels to say for sure they were a playoff contender. Team was below .500 when Anderson got hurt and had thrown in some real clunkers, even when at full strength.
To answer the hypothetical, I think I'd rather have Burke (I really didn't have MCW on my radar with 6th pick) + cap room + this years No. 1 + Lopez & Vasquez. In short, I think we should have stayed pat and let this year about Davis growing into a star rather than trying to accelerate the rebuild. I agree it may have pushed our playoff contention back a year or two, but it would give us the flexibility to construct with the right pieces. We'd have tons of assets + cap space at this trade deadline to pick off a top-level SF, for example, or to sign one in the offseason. I may be proven wrong in the next few years, but that would have been my call, just like I wouldn't have matched EG because of not wanting that much cap space devoted to a guy who looked injury prone and didn't want to be here. Can't pay that guy franchise player money, even with all his talent and potential.
My advice to Dell would be only do a deal at this deadline is it solves a specific problem for the team. Don't deal just to deal for another piece that is redundant or doesn't fit. If you can't get a guy at a position of need (SF/C), or execute a salary dump on Gordon, just ride this season out and develop Davis and Jrue (assuming he comes back). You can take another look in the summer.
Udoh is expiring you know that right? I'ts possible he resigns but we could pretty much end up trading Rivers for nothing. Just want to make sure you understand that and want your take. I mean I'd rather keep him if we are just going to give him away. I don't see where Udoh fits on this team.
