Works out better for Wizards as there is no 5th year (only they could offer that) and the annual raises the Kings could offer are lower than Wizards could have. So, effectively, it is a "discounted" max contract for the Wizards.

If athlete = great defender, Julian Wright would of been better then Bruce Bowen.

Klay Thompson would be chump change defensively compared to James Harden. But athleticism is rarely the strongest indicator of defensive prowess. The ability requires physical tools, absolutely, but once the baseline is met the non-physical things seem to be much more important. Look at the CP3's, Beverly's, Allen's, and Green's of the NBA. You would never call them the physical freaks of their class but they are elite defenders.

I get the sense you may be projecting a bit with these insults? Quoting people that were innocently answering a person's question with condescending comments toward them, then telling people to stop acting like it appears you are in fact acting.

Listen, look around, you are the only one that is denying Ingles as an above average defender. Is it just everyone else are a bunch of pretentious jerks, or is it maybe because it is the current consensus that people are thinking this? Why it is the numbers and analysis all back this up?

I think Dell screwed up Jrue's deal independently of anything the Raptors did, but the Lowry deal does illustrate to me further issues I hadn't though of til this provoked it.

He will be 32, and being athletic helps when playing defense, but it's not the only thing that makes you an impact defender. Ingles is a solid defender, and he is a great fit in that system. His contract is similar to Jrue's ($11m- year 1, $12m- year 2, $13m- year 3, $14m year 4). Smart deal.

His birthday will put him at 33 before the start of his 4th season, maybe he stays viable ala Kyle Korver but I'm sticking to my 3yr 30-35 million. Some people really hated the move.

A combo guard. It's been clear from the beginning. Look at what players we've been linked to.

Young, Collison, Justin Holiday, Meeks. All combo guards or straight up shooters.

Random dude on Walter Football that clearly doesnt even understand a lot of the teams he is commenting on isn't exactly a major indictment.

Almost every contract after the true superstars is an overpay based on talent or performance alone, its the matter of degrees and larger context that separates teams IMO.

Ingles doesn't really cause any harm for the Jazz's flexibility. Shooting and passing have a long shelf life and his style of savvy and physical defense has a fairly long shelf life as well. Barring major injuries he is the type of player you can move when needed.

4 years is more my sticking point, since that is the alignment of our cap that is so critical going into Davis's final year and needing to have the room to make the most optimal sell to him. 27 Million for a Combo Guard who is expected to be a huge part of your success, by 2020 will be a bargain .If Jrue hasn't lived up to his contract,whether it be 3,4 or 5 yrs,AD is leaving anyway,because it means we would have SUCKED> So, quite frankly, the extra year makes no difference.

Look at these numbers & the John Wall offer, if Jrue stays healthy and plays at the same level he has when healthy there is no doubt in my mind that he will opt out his 5th year to get another 3-4 year contract at a higher per year salary.

Lakers obviously hanging back at start of free agency, but one player they continue to give strong consideration to is Rajon Rondo

It really does seem like they are angling for this based on all the actions each are taking.

Wade opting in, CP3 opting in, Melo not taking a buy out, Lebron with the player option. Tea leaves definitely seem to be reading all the same way. Where they go is what would be interesting to speculate on? New Showtime Lakers?

All I'm saying is we're gonna need Westbrook/Wall on this team to compete against that line-up if that happens.

Hopefully Jrue balls out this year, Wall pulls a Paul George, and we go all in and trade Jrue, Hill, and 1st and swap 2nd for Wall.

What i haven't heard from you is any retorts to what I am actually saying. What my actual grievances are. Not the ones you are manufacturing. You and tin man seem to be very angry people that are quick to aggression(passive or overt) toward people you disagree with. It makes the culture of this board really take a dive when that is how people constantly act toward disagreements.

If this is all Jrue would accept from us, then you let him walk, that is my solution, simple as that. Jrue is not worth 6 million more a year then Teague and sacrificing our Davis FA flexibility, and I am not sure how many more games you win with Jrue vs a combo of Collison and Rondo/Lawson or some other cheap alternative. That is a case I would like to see someone make.

He will play somewhere along the 3pt line. Depends on if he's playing the PNR or if he's offball with AD/Cousins with the ball in their hand.

There will probably be multiple sets. Sometimes Hill will cut to the basket while Jrue moves to a wing. Sometimes we might play 4 out 1 in with the ball in Cousins/AD hands. Heck we might even try to post a Jrue up sometimes. He's got enough size to do it on most PGs in the league.

But the key is we need shooting so the defense can't collapse on us. Teams were leaving Hill alone in the corner and playing 5v4 on defense. Sometimes leaving 2 guards open on the wings and guarding 5v3.

Your grievances were not answered because they didn't warrant an answer. They were illogical. That has been my point this entire time. Jrue was never taking a 3 year deal that we would offer nor was he going to take some deal YOU might consider "reasonable" for 4 years. He wanted guaranteed money.

You are building a case where you propose something that is not possible as being possible and then blaming Dell for not doing it. Hate Jrue's contract? Great! You flat out do not know this. Demps doesn't even seemingly know this because we made the offer before he received any others. You just don't know, period. But what we can look at is the market for PG's. Which is why I provided that chart.

What team is offering Jrue that same deal? To make your case start there.

I feel like this is the exact re-tread of the Asik year, where you made all these arguments justifying Demps method and payment for Asik, but the market started playing out in a way that it became clear Jrue would not of gotten he same deal on that open market by any other team. Setting aside the question of what is the ceiling you should be comfortable with paying True to begin with.
