You think quite highly of yourself. Get back with me when Ingles guards Carmelo,LeBron etc. Hill is so much the better athlete than Ingles. I'm glad you think so highly of yourself. Anyway- you should try to have a conversation instead of spending all of your time trying to prove that you are right and all others that disagree are wrong. We see the same guy & come to different conclusions. if it means that much to you to be RIGHT, instead of realizing that a differing opinion is just that. BTW- using a play from your playbook. Don't speak of what you don't know- I have an abundance of knowledge regarding basketball. At the same time,Just because I disagreed w/ your opinion doesn't mean that I think you don't know what you are talking about. I just don't agree with it. Get over it.
Either way. The Wizards will match the hell out of it.
...and I secretly, but out loud, feel a surge of vindication that Otto Porter became a max worthy player after all.
Are you seriously going to sit here and try to flip Lowry getting 33.3m/yr as Dell screwing up Jrue's deal?
Gtfo with that nonsense. Jrue will be paid ~98m over 4 years then he will have a player option for his last year, which he might or might not opt into. Lowry just got 100m over 3.
If athlete = great defender, Julian Wright would of been better then Bruce Bowen.
Klay Thompson would be chump change defensively compared to James Harden. But athleticism is rarely the strongest indicator of defensive prowess. The ability requires physical tools, absolutely, but once the baseline is met the non-physical things seem to be much more important. Look at the CP3's, Beverly's, Allen's, and Green's of the NBA. You would never call them the physical freaks of their class but they are elite defenders.
I get the sense you may be projecting a bit with these insults? Quoting people that were innocently answering a person's question with condescending comments toward them, then telling people to stop acting like it appears you are in fact acting.
Listen, look around, you are the only one that is denying Ingles as an above average defender. Is it just everyone else are a bunch of pretentious jerks, or is it maybe because it is the current consensus that people are thinking this? Why it is the numbers and analysis all back this up?
Speaking of shooters, what exactly are we targeting? Are we using Jrue as our sharpshooter & priority PG? Is priority a Combo that can shoot the 3. Is our Priority a 3 or stretch 4 that can shoot the 3. Are we looking for a CJ Miles type first, a PG first, a Stretch 4 first? What in the twilight direction are we going?
He will be 32, and being athletic helps when playing defense, but it's not the only thing that makes you an impact defender. Ingles is a solid defender, and he is a great fit in that system. His contract is similar to Jrue's ($11m- year 1, $12m- year 2, $13m- year 3, $14m year 4). Smart deal.

His birthday will put him at 33 before the start of his 4th season, maybe he stays viable ala Kyle Korver but I'm sticking to my 3yr 30-35 million. Some people really hated the move.
Quote:
Jazz re-sign Joe Ingles (4 years, $52 million): KAHN!!! Grade
This is the worst signing of the NBA offseason thus far. The Jazz could've offered Joe Ingles half as much, and it still wouldn't have been a good acquisition. That's how awful this move is.
Ingles is usually a backup, but he saw more action last year in the wake of injuries. He had some nice moments, but giving him $13 million per year is absurd. Plus, it's not like he's a young player who has the potential to improve. He turns 30 in October, so his skills will erode by the end of this contract. This signing is easily worth a Kahn.

Well, it's walterfootball commenting on basketball free agency. I don't go to Taco Bell looking for Authentic Italian food...or Mexican food.
Walter football is a fun read, but it's just that, it's hardly insightful, and even less correct.
The link I provided shows that Ingles will be a free agent when he hits 33.
Random dude on Walter Football that clearly doesnt even understand a lot of the teams he is commenting on isn't exactly a major indictment.
Almost every contract after the true superstars is an overpay based on talent or performance alone, its the matter of degrees and larger context that separates teams IMO.
Ingles doesn't really cause any harm for the Jazz's flexibility. Shooting and passing have a long shelf life and his style of savvy and physical defense has a fairly long shelf life as well. Barring major injuries he is the type of player you can move when needed.
4 years is more my sticking point, since that is the alignment of our cap that is so critical going into Davis's final year and needing to have the room to make the most optimal sell to him. And maybe that wouldn't get it done, but I am also of the mind of letting him walk is not the worst thing if we couldn't come to more amiable terms. So you are going to struggle convincing me on any big deal that is max in length. But looking at what the other players got in this class:

It seems reasonable that his market value could of been negotiated to that 4 year range. If we were more willing to play hardball. But like with Asik, Demps tends to lean on estimating the market value and beating it to avoid the risk of flight, over letting the market set it and playing the waiting game.
What I'm even more intrigued about is next years free agency when lebron, cp3, wade, and melo become free agents. They're all going to finally team up...LOL
27 Million for a Combo Guard who is expected to be a huge part of your success, by 2020 will be a bargain .If Jrue hasn't lived up to his contract, whether it be 3,4 or 5 yrs,AD is leaving anyway, because it means we would have SUCKED> So, quite frankly, the extra year makes no difference.
Lakers obviously hanging back at start of free agency, but one player they continue to give strong consideration to is Rajon Rondo

It really does seem like they are angling for this based on all the actions each are taking.
Wade opting in, CP3 opting in, Melo not taking a buy out, Lebron with the player option. Tea leaves definitely seem to be reading all the same way. Where they go is what would be interesting to speculate on? New Showtime Lakers?
My goal has never been to try and convince you of anything. It's been to call you out on clear BS.
Lowry is getting the more money in 3 years as Jrue is in 4, yet somehow Dell screwed up again.
Some of you posters on here blow my mind. Maybe you should also fault Dell for not trading for LeBron or Curry too. It's probably also Dell's fault that the cap was decreased this year. Have you had any pets that have died lately? I bet we can come up with a way to blame Dell for that too.
All I'm saying is we're gonna need Westbrook/Wall on this team to compete against that line-up if that happens.
Hopefully Jrue balls out this year, Wall pulls a Paul George, and we go all in and trade Jrue, Hill, and 1st and swap 2nd for Wall.
...If the goal is to win championships.
Interest between Warriors and @NickSwagyPYoung is mutual, real. Dubs' intel is positive & they see role for him. But, others still in play.

if joe ingles was on this team making what hill is making and avg 7pts a game, would that be acceptable?....
You are "calling me out" on arguments I am not making slick.
If you think the Jrue deal is a good one, make your case.
What i haven't heard from you is any retorts to what I am actually saying. What my actual grievances are. Not the ones you are manufacturing. You and tin man seem to be very angry people that are quick to aggression(passive or overt) toward people you disagree with. It makes the culture of this board really take a dive when that is how people constantly act toward disagreements.
If this is all Jrue would accept from us, then you let him walk, that is my solution, simple as that. Jrue is not worth 6 million more a year then Teague and sacrificing our Davis FA flexibility, and I am not sure how many more games you win with Jrue vs a combo of Collison and Rondo/Lawson or some other cheap alternative. That is a case I would like to see someone make.
He will play somewhere along the 3pt line. Depends on if he's playing the PNR or if he's offball with AD/Cousins with the ball in their hand.
There will probably be multiple sets. Sometimes Hill will cut to the basket while Jrue moves to a wing. Sometimes we might play 4 out 1 in with the ball in Cousins/AD hands. Heck we might even try to post a Jrue up sometimes. He's got enough size to do it on most PGs in the league.
But the key is we need shooting so the defense can't collapse on us. Teams were leaving Hill alone in the corner and playing 5v4 on defense. Sometimes leaving 2 guards open on the wings and guarding 5v3.
Your grievances were not answered because they didn't warrant an answer. They were illogical. That has been my point this entire time. Jrue was never taking a 3 year deal that we would offer nor was he going to take some deal YOU might consider "reasonable" for 4 years. He wanted guaranteed money.
You are building a case where you propose something that is not possible as being possible and then blaming Dell for not doing it. Hate Jrue's contract? Great! I don't care what anyone's opinion of it is. Trying to fault Dell for not giving Jrue a similar type deal to Lowry? Nah man, that's just stupid.
Oh, good one. Now, you conflate maturity with having the ability to be knowledgeable. So,now, not just your narcissism is showing, its your lack of comprehensive skills that's taking center stage. When "ONE" , especially an egomaniac starts realizing that no one cares about his points, he/she starts to deflect towards meaningless banter. Its a typical tactic from the ill begotten. + Serious conversation with you is impossible considering we have to read your written soliloquies.
NBATV has David Aldridge talking about Nick Young right now.
Bullet points:
- The feeling between Young and the Warriors is very real
- Notes he has played better defense then when he came into the league, which adds to the interest the Warriors have.
- Makes clear the Warriors would pay him less, give him less minutes, and a smaller role then what others can offer.
- Making the sell that the Warriors can rehabilitate his image ALA McGee and lead to better long-term opportunity.
- Opportunity to win a championship is very alluring
Enter New Orleans:
- Says we met with him yesterday.
- Offered him more money and a starting role to come here.
- Offered him starting caliber minutes and playing time.
- Emphasized more of an opportunity to be a scorer as we will be looking for a guy to do what he does best. Play off Jrue, AD, and Cousins.
Can we put an end to the schoolyard brawl here? Lets not make this board unbearable.
You flat out do not know this. Demps doesn't even seemingly know this because we made the offer before he received any others. You just don't know, period. But what we can look at is the market for PG's. Which is why I provided that chart.
What team is offering Jrue that same deal? To make your case start there.
I feel like this is the exact re-tread of the Asik year, where you made all these arguments justifying Demps method and payment for Asik, but the market started playing out in a way that it became clear Jrue would not of gotten he same deal on that open market by any other team. Setting aside the question of what is the ceiling you should be comfortable with paying True to begin with.
