I'm pretty sure it's because Cleveland wanted the Brooklyn picks, it wasn't about Crowder. But I do get your point, it would be nice to have a stud 3&D guy on the roster. I just don't see any realistic way to get one outside renouncing Gordon and Anderson and signing Batum.

The more I delve into Luwawu the more questions and doubts I am starting to have.

People say he is a shooter but his numbers are based on 22 games.

The previous data has not been nearly as kind. In FIBA play his numbers were really bad. Same with his stint with Antibes. His FT% is really low and his overall jump shot release needs some work. His handles are very underdeveloped as is his creation ability.

Then again if you look at Batum's international numbers you do see a similar trend and similar red flags. Most international players don't go on to have the sort of success Batum does so I wont assume Luwawu will do the same. So my vote is still out.

Tyreke is a PG. He's also undersized for the SF position, even more so since he slimmed down to play Gentryball.

1) I'd rather have enough options at SF that we can push Pondexter to SG. Adding a 2 way SF and sliding QPon to SG means you have 4 offensive threats on the floor with Asik which means you should be able to play him more which means you also would have 5 plus defenders and Asik is now a useful player and not an albatross contract you have to pay to move.

2) QPon is fine for 25 MPG at SF, but I remember seeing him get outmatched in quite a few matchups last year, so I think you need a bigger/longer guy to split time with him. So even if QPon was healthy we'd still need more options at SF, and I don't mean adding a Wes Johnson.

I'm not going to be mad if we draft someone like Hield, because he certainly can be a good player for the Pels, but the team's ceiling isn't going to change until we significantly upgrade the SF position.

2017 is the year to fix the SF position, look at the RFA/FA's

I don't care who we sign as a stop gap at SF because it doesn't matter, we're not fixing the SF spot via this draft or FA (Batum signing aside). So unless we hold onto cap space and trade with a team looking to get out of the Lux tax we are better off taking a run at Gordon Haywood or Gallinari.

We did address the SF issue signing Tyreke, the goal was to use him between PG/SG/SF and end games with Jrue, EG, Reke, Ryno, AD and it didn't work because Tyreke can't do anything except be a ball dominant street baller. 2016 isn't a good year to be looking for a long term solution at SF. I really don't care how bad you think we need it, because we don't, we just need a body on the floor who can put a hand in someones face when they shoot and shoot corner 3's, there really isn't much more to it, Bryce may end up being that guy even if a little undersized.

2017 is a great SF crop of FA's, if I were managing this team I'd be aiming to fix the issue then.

Porter may not be matched because of Oubre
Haywood is unrestricted.
Shabazz isn't guaranteed to be matched, hes just a role player

Plenty of opportunity there.

We desperately need a good SF. Not just someone to put their hand in a players face and hit corner 3s. This team will never make the next jump if we don't get a stud at SF. Even with QPon we still have a huge hole at SF. IMO QPon needs to be coming off the bench or start at SG while playing some SF in the game. BDJ is not a SF and never will be. If he was we would have used him there this year.

We're not getting a good SF this offseason unless we manage to overpay Batum.

I don't see why anyone is going on any further about this because no-one who is is actually giving any other realistic alternatives.

Luwawu doesn't count as an alternative, unless he goes to the combine and actually beats other 6'7" guys there in physical comparisons.

I think our best bet to find a SF is not through the draft or free agency but a trade using Reke and/or possibly one other decent contract like Ajinca/Cunningham/Gee. Maybe making a move for a guy like Solomon Hill or taking a flyer on a guy like Shabazz where a change in scenery might help him reach his potential. Otherwise, I agree that the SF hole will bot be completely filled till the 2017 offseason.

And isn't that sad that it is our best bet. The truth is we should've taken the 4 picks for AD from the Celtics. This team would have had a better chance at being successful. As much as I like Jrue(and use his name in my screenname) the downfall of building our team started when we traded our 2 picks for him and them another for Asik. Hard to build a sustainable team that way. The Warriors and Thunder are the teams to beat and they built through the draft. So did the Spurs all though they are on the tail end of that rounds success.

The heat/celtics are the only teams to build a winner through free agency. Both of their windows slammed shut fast because it isn't sustainable.

everyone wants the perfect match at small forward- age, skill and all like Barnes and Batum. But older guys may be the answer like Deng and M Williams ect

Not sure if he's going to declare this year, but Marquese Chriss seems like he could be worth a gamble at SF. He'd be a big SF that could play PF in small ball lineups, hes super athletic, has 3pt range but not a pure shooter, gets a good amount of blocks, keep an eye on him.

i like murray a lot, but he looks a little limited athletically, wonder if he can translate.

Marvin Williams is more of a PF and not much of an upgrade over Dante. I would love Deng and have him on my list. I doubt he leaves the Heat though where he is a perfect fit and will get paid.

Do you imagine Hood going for that much? I love the chemistry that Jrue and AD are showing together, so I wouldn't be so quick to hustle it out the door. But I do like Hood and see his arrow point way up. Needless to say I think the Jazz have a great young team, but I am not sure I do that trade.
