imo he is a bit too slow for a starter.

He is passable if that is what we are stuck with after FA(the lineup of Jrue, Moore, Hill, Davis, and Cousins was a +16 net rating), but I do agree he could be improved and ideally would be a nice punch off the bench for a dozen or so minutes and additional minutes when he is hot. Replacing him with someone better. Or at least more in synergy with our current starting group would be ideal though.
Maybe we could try Solomon Hill, Alex Ajinca, Quincy Pondexter, and 2018 1st rounder for Eric Bledsoe & Jared Dudley. Let's be real, Asik isn't going anywhere unless we take on a bad contract. The only ones they may have is Brandon Knight or Jared Dudley. Sign Nick Young and some other players to fill out the roster.
C: Cousins, Asik
PF: AD, Diallo
SF: Young, Dudley
SG: Holiday, Moore, Crawford
PG: Bledsoe, Cook, Jackson
Sources: Minnesota Timberwolves have expressed interest in Justin Holiday. Worth noting he played with Jimmy Butler on the Chicago Bulls.

Joe Ingles got 4yrs / 52mil from Utah. Is he any better than Solomon Hill? I know ingles is older...
Defensively they are probably about the same (maybe you could give the slight edge to Hill since he can guard 1-4 and is younger) , Joe is a much better shooter though.
Which contract is better will depend on what type of improvement Hill makes this year with the new way our offense will be ran and also how much Joe falls off over the life of the deal.
Very much so. Joe Ingles is like what you wanted Hill to actually be. Solid defender, good passer, and hit 46% of his catch and shoot three point shots. 40% of pull ups(though only 72 of them last year). Compare that to Hill's 37% catch and shoot numbers and 15% on pull ups. Less consistent and less efficient passing.
What's wrong with this picture? Joe Ingles - 6'8". Shooting guard & shoots 44% from 3pt range. That is really impressive. So, then why/how does someone w/ those vitals play only 24 MPG & average 7 PPG ? He is not very good defensively & he has zero foot speed w/ zero handle. He is strictly a shooter.
A serious candidate for a portion of Golden State's $5.2M exception, per ESPN sources: Free agent guard Nick Young.

I can't believe we have not signed anyone yet it boggles the mind I'm not Dells number one fan by any means but this is ridiculous even for him . Hopefully he's got something going on that will help us .

As @wojespn reports, Nick Young considering Warriors. Chance at a ring big to him; teams like Pels have more playing time/shots to offer.

Young's eligible for part or all of Warriors' $5.2M exception, if he's willing to pass on more lucrative mid-level exception opportunities. https://t.co/uBZFabge1M

So many depressed emos. Please step away from your computer and get some sunshine.
There are advantages to not signing guys early, namely if you wait you don't pay the early bird markup, and tams start using up their caproom so there is less competition.
Of course the flipside is maybe you don't get your guy(s), but on a team like the Pels already stacked with questionable oversized contracts, waiting out the market and trying to pluck value from the leftovers makes some sense.

Then I am sorry, you do not watch enough Jazz basketball. Ingles has quietly turned into a solid above average defender and a consistent catch and shoot player. The quintessential 3 and D archetype. Which is why he is getting paid and was sought after.
He held opposing players to 44% shooting, Hill 45%. Ingles 104 Def Rating, Hill 103(But Ingles offensive rating puts him with a net rating 4 points higher). Defensive real-plus minus Hill is 1.49 to Ingles .26. But that is a tricky stat to contextualize. Overall RPM puts ingles as the far better player, but when you break down the metric things get a bit weird. Where Kyle Anderson is the third best SF defender and Luke Babbit is close behind Solomon Hill.
Look at what Ingles did in the playoffs. He smothered JJ Redick. He was Redick's primary defender and held him to 35% shooting. He even got assignments guarding threes and CP3 for spurts. He lacks athleticism, but like many good defenders, he uses good footwork, positioning, savvy physical moves, mental games, and dedication to making it work. We would be way better off with Ingles over Hill. He fits a lot of what this team really needs. But that is not in the cards anymore.
Boom goes the dynamite. Lowry got 33.3m/yr.
Good God. This makes me feel better about Holiday's contract.
Get over yourself. I said he guards 2's & weak 3's or did you not comprehend what I posted. Ingles is slow of foot. He is a 6'8" SG, that's a great 3 pt shooter & averages 7 freakin pts per game on 24 MPG. A sharpshooting 2 guard is supposed to be averaging 30+ minutes & 12-20 PPG. I watched him run around with Redick all over the court. So what ? Ingles is a Shooter & he doesn't score. Ugh ! Starting SG at 6'8", supposedly (according to you) is a good defender & a great 3pt shooter, yet doesn't score & only plays half of the game. 24 minutes. No thanks. BTW- are you actually, with a straight face stating, that because they are paying him- it makes him worth it. WOW! So, now we gauge how good a player is by what the team paid him? Lolololol.
Wise on them to keep it to three years. Especially if they keep a player option on that third year.
Frankly if we had done something more like that I would be much less frustrated with the Jrue deal. 25 million over three-four years with a player option. Putting the contracts end date right at the moment you could have some flexibility with your sell to Davis as he enters FA and all the albatross contracts come off the books.
Oh well, Demps is gonna Demps.
Don't talk about things you clearly don't have a clue about then?
You made a ridiculous statement(Hill is exponentially better then Ingles defensively) and then preceded to quote me(after calling out someone else) with a smarmy comment and a false assertion with a smug attitude. You get treated the way you treat others. Had you been a bit more dignified in your response, I wouldn't of directly called your knowledge of Ingles ignorant. But it is. And I showed you why.
It is you that needs to get over yourself. A person that thinks they have standing to call out two posters who have actually looked at these players objectively, who provided you fact-based evidence to support it, and then have the audacity to tell us to shut up. The problem with the internet is that it is hard to keep a lie going if someone is committed to finding out the truth.
Makes Holiday slightly tradeable if our secret plan to recruit John Wall comes to fruition.
Oh drat. I just spoiled it.
Forget what you just read, everyone.
Ingles was worth the money. Not only is he a 3&D player, but he is the guy who gets under people's skin, and he acts as an enforcer. He was fun to watch in the playoffs as he was always bugging Draymond. I would have paid him just to see him get under Green's skin.
Really? We have very little to play with. It would likely be better to let the market calm down a bit to get better value for the player. Unless someone like Gallinari walks in and says "I will play for the MLE" what is the rush to use it on a player that is in a large group of players that are pretty much the same?
Ingles is only worth the money if his relationship & shared agent brings Gordan Heyward back to Utah. Otherwise, big overpay.
We are gonna be in the luxury with or without the extra years because of our bad contracts on the books. But with a shorter contract, like most teams have seemingly done this offseason, you keep your flexibility. Especially as AD's contract ends. If Jrue does not work out, it is a pretty big hit to our future flexibility.
Its the difference of going into AD's FA period with(hopefully) only Cousins as our major contract or most of your cap ate up if AD resigns and Jrue is taking up 27-28 million, once again leaving little room to bring in that other star if AD sticks around.
I also just think getting a team to take a flyer on Jrue if a big opportunity comes up(Wall) is much easier to do if the guy has a 3-4 year contract then a 5 year, escalating contract. Even if the total yearly cost is higher.
