exactly. In all of these situations we are trading the dollar for some quarters. i wouldn't trade the best member of our backcourt for a lesser talent unless the talent drop-off was very minimal in comparison the $ savings (while still not sacrificing too much contract length either).

i swear some of y'all are just trying to make our western conference opponents better (and the rockets?! theyre in our division!)

I would make that trade to the Rockets. it's not like trading to an opponent in our own division is out of the question (what would you not take James Harden if the Rockets offered him, just because we would be playing for the rockets?). Parsons and Asik are young healthy guys that would help our team in the long run, more than Gordon alone.

Houston would not trade Asik and Parsons for Gordon.

:confused: I don't know what you're trying to ask there.. but thats besides the point - they would never trade us Harden (and thats my point)

but no, i'm not going to have my backcourt take a major hit so that we can marginally upgrade a front court position (lopez --> asik) while paying him more than twice as much for that marginal upgrade, especially since our front court is our strength at the moment.

and while parsons would help us and at a very nice price, its still not worth losing a gordon-level player over. basically, money aside, its a severe downgrade

I am saying trading within the division happens. We have made a few trades with Memphis and Houston both. No point in saying " I would never make a trade within our division." Because its going to happen.

thats not what i'm saying. Those where small scale trades. I'm not going trade an all-star level player (and the current best player on our team) to a division rival for 2 role players, regardless of money saved.

Trade Gordon for Asik and parsons?? R u guys serious?? My goodness lol...give Gordon an off season to get his legs under him and work out with the team and get in sync then talk trades involving him. I'm getting so sick of seeing all these trades involving our best player on the team for role players.

Not at all. Their GM goes by advanced stats and Gordon's advanced metrics have never been that good, especially compared to a guy like Harden. Basically, he wouldn't want to have Gordon's contract even if they didn't have Harden.

His value went down after the Harden trade. Lin depends on a high usage rate which is why he was so successful in NY without Melo. Morey didn't have Harden yet before they signed Lin, plus the Lin signing was alot about business as well due to the high Asian population in Houston.

You don't know that. If he drafts a top notch SG like a Shabazz, McElmore, etc., then there's a good chance he would trade an injury prone overpaid Gordon for something similar to that.

Well now your get way off base with projecting diff situations and who we might draft n all that. I think u guys totally dismiss how good eg really is cause of these past 2 years. He has played out the rest of the year staying healthy n looking better. He is no where near where he can be. Give him an off season with the team to sync and get his strength n conditioning back. I think we will see the super star we traded for and hoped for. Dude is a beast.

And I wouldn't call shabazz a TOP NOTCH sg either...nothing about him screams top notch...mclemore on the other hand!!!! Oh my goodness u got me excited now lol..we get mclemore I couldn't care less what happens to Gordon lol...I honestly think mclemore is a super star in the making

You get 2 guys that aren't injured. one of the best defensive centers in the league, the other is one of the better sf's in the league.

You give up a guy that has all star potential, but is always hurt.

How is it way off base? Just because you're a Gordon homer doesn't mean the team think he's a viable long-term option especially with his contract. He's never proven to stay healthy for a full-season, his contract is too high since he's never produced as a max (14 million per year) player in any 82 game stretch. Sure he's really talented and is still young, but don't pretend that he's untouchable.

Dude I'm far from a Gordon homer trust me I just said draft mclemore and I couldn't care less what happens to Gordon. What I was saying is the original discussion was this proposed trade. Im discussing the trade based upon the now. And I think when dell gave him his max contract that was the team saying hey Gordon you are a viable long term option

Because one is on a rookie contract, and the other is strictly def?

Because that foolish gm you were referring to knows how to get good contracts that don't kill the team?

There are plenty of guys on contracts making more than those guys, and doing less. is the $ figure on your contract tell you how good a player you are? Explain Baron Davis and Reshard Lewis.

I'm glad someone gets it. I don't care how small a minority im in, we should be glad to have a player like gordon and we definitely don't need to "escape" from his contract on such terrible terms as those suggested. We have the guy locked up for another 2 or 3 years. Be patient people.

I believe the Rockets are happy with Lin. 12/6/3/1 from your 3rd option on offense (Harden, and Parsons being the first 2). Not bad money for what you get in return.

Asik is also doing very well for his contract. 10/11/1 solid defender. Not bad contracts at all.

Now explain to me how the $ figure on your contract can tell how good a player you are. Baron Davis and Reshard Lewis have clown contracts, and they aren't even the best 2nd to last person on a bench.

Everyone hopes Gordon is a long-term viable option when he gets healthy. That's not the point. The point is he doesn't have much value right now. And if he was an unrestricted FA, Demps wouldn't have given him that contract. He matched because he hopes Gordon is a viable long-term option AND he didn't want to lose him without getting any value in return.

There was value for Gordon (much more than there is now), Del realized letting him go for nothing would be foolish, when all you have to do is match a contract (with cash you have ample of), and trade him off later to a team desperate enough. Who else was he going to spend the money on?

Who said he is making max money?

And how does the $ on your contract determine how good a player you are? You never answered that. Davis is making a pittance of what Gordon is, yet Davis is the better player.

They're not that cheap and both are still pretty young. Parsons is 24 and puts up 15/5/5 a game. Osik averages 10/11 (he stinks offensively). They're more than role players. Complimentary player is a better term.

Anyone else not want to trade Gordon, Vasquez, or Lopez and just draft Otto Porter?
