Mavs might be interested in Randle
https://thesmokingcuban.com/2019/05/...s-randle-adds/
I think he would actually be a great fit there. If Dallas can land 2 good FAs with one being Randle then that is a playoff team that can do some damage. Would love to see him back here but I just don’t think he compliments Zion as well as he did AD. If he would accept a 6th man bench role and play the 5 with Zion at the 4 in small ball lineups then I pay the man. The West is going to be wide open next year. If the Pels do it right I can see us legitly making it to the WC Finals.
Kevin Durant is “100 percent undecided” on where he’s playing next, his manager @RichKleiman says at The #WSJFuture Of Everything Festival. “He really doesn’t know, and I really don’t know.” pic.twitter.com/1fEw2kYZqm

Julius was pretty much Tyree Evans at PF. So much offensive game, but needed the ball in his hands to be a positive on the court and just didn't have defense as a priority. I'm not trying to be rude but he doesn't play winning basketball. I'm happy to here he is having other dope opportunities for him.
Randle was not that bad stats wise. Both Lakers and Magic acknowledge it was a mistake kicking Randle to the curb. It did come up on First Take the other day.
Eric Bledsoe made 1st team defense. Yeah let that sink in.
Him on the bench and in certain rotations with zion and Davis would be pretty good actually. We just would need our one and two to play defense and be able to catch and shoot in the starting lineup. He would be dominant off the bench. We’ll just see what kind of money he commands. If he doesn’t go for a pay day, he could be a solid signing. He has great passing ability but never got to show it last year because he was forced to become the main scorer. Check out some highlights of him. He has the vision and ability to be a playmaker.

Such horrible highlights! How rude! :)
Playing Devil's advocate, Jrue only played 67 games and we stank. Hell Kawhi couldn't even make first team. 2nd team isn't the worst result in the world
Anthony Davis in 2016-17 and Jrue Holiday this year are the only two players to make an all-defensive team without also making the playoffs in the last 10 years.
So we understand that. But it still rankles to see Holiday get ranked behind Bledsoe, who is clearly inferior to him on D.
Earning All-NBA for a second consecutive season now has Giannis Antetokounmpo eligible in the summer of 2020 to sign the largest contract in NBA history. The five-year extension starting in 2021-22 would be worth $247.3M and carry a $42.6, $46.0, $49.5, $52.9 and $56.3M cap hit.

I know it's not quite a free agent, but I may as well post contract extension news in here rather than just starting a new thread for a relatively minor thing.
Giannis gonna get paid FIFTY. SIX. MILLION. DOLLARS. For a single year.
Edit: I don't really know what's the case in the US, but $56m is £44.2m. UK minimum wage is £8.21 per hour. Average minimum wage worker would have to work 5.383 million hours to earn that wage. Assuming a 50 hour work week, no days or weeks off, 107673 weeks. Or 2070 years. NBA money is truly absurd sometimes. Makes it even more absurd when you remember how rich the owners are.
Also, if Rudy Gobert wins DPOY this year, he'll be eligible for a supermax contract.
If Utah give him that, that will instantly be one of the worst contracts in the league.

This isn't news, there have been open talks about this for a week or two, but it's confirmed. FA deadline moves forward a few hours, which for me puts it in the middle of the night rather than early morning.
Have heard that Free Agent Power Forward Julius Randle has interest in the Phoenix Suns. And I fully expect the Suns to consider him as well.

I wonder what his market will be this summer. He would probably kill in Alvin Gentry's system. https://t.co/Iw8cl1zKH1

I feel awful but I totally agree and think we should sign him.
The Houston Rockets have claimed third-year center Deyonta Davis off free agency waivers, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.

Butler on market
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/...nuine-interest
Jimmy Butler has told confidants that if Miami wants to talk on or after June 30 he would certainly - and happily - listen, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
— Tim Reynolds (@ByTimReynolds) June 14, 2019
(Of course, the “how would Miami have the $$$” portion of this equation remains most unclear.)
Yeaaaah.... Miami has precisely no cap space at all.
If Dragic and Whiteside both opted out of their player options, they'd free up about $40m, but they're so far over the cap right now that that would only actually give them like $26m. That's not enough for a max like Butler would want. They'd need to get creative.
Plus, I don't see Whiteside or Dragic opting out.
Dragic already opted in.
To be clear, If Miami wanted to clear cap space, I'd take Dragic. Now HE would be a good fit next to Jrue and knows Gentry's system. Especially for 1 year. Would probably be able to sign him back to a team friendly deal afterwards too given his age.
You mean what would we give up? I assume Miami would either give us an asset or we'd give them a fake 2nd round pick for clearing the space for him.
I'd assume after the AD trade that we will end up with an alright amount of cap space and be able to absorb his contract.

Anyone up for the return of Demarcus Cousins?
The Pelicans will want to pair a center with Zion. Cousins has to be one of the best free agent centers. He has the physical presence down low and also has range, the Pelicans need spacing to come from the 5 if Ball and Ingram are in the starting rotation. Cousins next contract will be good value for whatever team he goes to. The team won’t have to overpay and he will already have a year of rehab complete.
Can we sign and trade Randle?

I say we use our cap space to Sign Mirotic, Payton, and another backup shooter wing.
Yes it would be a good fit for the time being, but I seriously doubt he would want to go to a rebuilding franchise full of 21 year olds.
But he looked pretty bad in the finals so whoever he signs with should be able to aign him at a good value on a short contract.
Dewayne Dedmon would be a good fit at center for the short term
