I still would be happy with Burke. I really don't dislike any of the guys that are possible at 6, I think we are in a prime position especially now with Len's rise.

Alex Len as the #1 pick? The entire NBA would have to send Cleveland a thank you card.
Why?
I believe Len or McLemore will go #1.
I just cant see Phoenix taking Porter. It is Washington or us IMO and though everyone has said he is a lock, I have never bought that
Honestly the more I've watched him I've kind of become "meh" on Otto Porter.
I don't know why people are so against Len. To me, the dude has massive potential. 7'1", already pretty skilled and can move. Maryland's guards never fed him the ball to dominate, but the potential is there.
I can see that, but I gotta say that I have been a Georgetown fan since 1991. I watched almost every Porter game, and even more importantly, almost every game of the John Thompson III era. It would be so hard for any prospect to excite you in that system. If Andrew Wiggins went there, it would be hard to get excited about him.
They are all about teaching and stressing fundamentals, slowing the game down and using every second of that shot clock. No isos or pick and rolls, etc. It is totally about the team with them, and sometimes that takes the shine off of individuals.
Take that for what its worth.
You know who else has massive potential Enes Kanter, and he was supposed to be a better prospect than Len.
I hope Cleveland does take Len; it certainly would open us up for better options.
Len is going before us, whether it is 1, 4, or 5. That's for sure.
Like I said a week ago - Len is the only guy in this entire draft that I can't see one scenario where he falls to 6. Could make a scenario for anybody else. Not Len.
Not really a fair or logical arguement. You're arguing about not reaching potential in hindsight. There are also a lot of players that were said to not have much potential that are balling now, same with others who did reach their potential, so looking at that after the fact isn't fair. As of now, these guys are rated as unknown commodities and regardless of how sure people are the fact is no one KNOWS anything. They are all rated on potential. Len has a lot of it, as much as anyone, if not more, in the draft. Period.
Enes Kanter has Al Jefferson in front of him, and i know you personally don't like him, but it's hard to take 20/10 off the floor for a kid. I think this year is the year we see what Kanter can do assuming they don't resign Jefferson.
Al Jefferson is the worst defending big man....its not hard to take him off the floor if you have a better option on the bench. The Jazz did better defensivly when Jefferson was on the bench.
Kanter and Len are the same guy. Big player, nice outside shot to stretch a def. Only difference is Len is coming in with an injury. Take it as you will, but drafting a big who is already starting off hurt isn't the best option around town.
I haven't seen much of Porter except his highlights but he looks slow and uncoordinated to me. With that being said, I still hope he falls to us...
I just don't see us taking Burke at #6.
Cleveland picking Len wouldn't be that much safer injury-wise.
I can see Len might look safer offensively, but I still take Noel over Len every day of the week.
Looking at the mock I see only one pick this year. What happened to our 2nd round?
just teasing us... but i also think Len is a better #1 than Noel. more potential on both ends of the ball and its not like Noel is any more of a certainty to be a good player and no real need at the 2 with Dion Waiters being picked last year
This is good news regardless. If Porter and Burke are on the board at 6 I will go to sleep that night a happy man.
I think Otto Porter is the Marvin Williams of this draft.
McLemore
Bennet
Oladipo
McCollum
Pope
alex len
one of these
Not surprised at Len #1. That's where the rumors are going now.
I'd be a little annoyed if we passed on Oladipo.
One thing that I've noticed is that the game never got bigger than Otto Porter. Like he was always capable of producing and impacting the game. He wasn't a take the game over guy, but no matter what is required, he will be there.
I guess what I'm saying is that because he can score, defend, rebound, pass, and initiate offense, he almost never disappeared. He had a bad last game of the year, but those weren't all that common.
Exactly. And I am not comparing the two, but that is what made Jason Kidd so great throughout his career. If he couldn't score, he could still pass, defend, rebound, etc. There are so many ways to impact a game. People love scorers, but if they are off, then what do they give you? Take Ben McLemore, for instance. If he isn't hitting, what does he bring to the table? Maybe slightly above average rebounding for his position; maybe.
Give me the guy who can impact the game in the most ways and I know that he will give me something every night and on some nights he will give me everything.
Which is why I was and still am so gaga about Anthony Davis. If AD is having an off shooting night, he can still impact the game with his length, great hands, and quickness by getting last minute tip ins or deflections or that key rebound or block.
I'm definitely in agreement with these last few posts. Not sure what there is not to like with Porter. You would be talking about adding an EXTREMELY long SF next to an EXTREMELY long PF in Davis. Porter is the wing defender we have been desperate for. He also can handle the ball, and shoot the jumper, unlike another SF I know. He is definitely the type of guy that can give you 10+, 5 and 5, and just make your team so much better. It's also our weakest position, so it would allow us to focus our resources on other positions like PG and C where there are more viable options.
It would be a homerun, and he would be a fan favorite no doubt. The kid is a winner.
I would be really happy with Porter. He could start right away and for 10+ seasons.
I was never really wowed by Porter (and I guess that is what those above are saying). He seemed to fade towards the end of the season and disappeared in the tourney. I think he would be a good pick, but I am not as high on him as most.
if otto porter is there he will undoubtably be the pick, monty values his style AND wants length, porter is 6"9 with a 7"1 wingspan
if we somehow luck out and land otto porter who would yall want to sign for the PG position, jennings or teague?
I think Len is the bust of this draft and would rather take Muscala over this kid. He already has a injury that could potentially be a serious problem for a big man. I watched him disappear in a few games and if your that good you demand the ball on such a weak team. Not buying it that his guards didn't get him the ball. He was 7'1 playing against guys half his size and he still couldn't dominate. He has sky rocketed up boards because of Hibberts play. I have seen Mac state many times you don't need a dominant center to win and that is the truth. He reminds me of Lopez and i'd rather not have 2 of them.
