I believe tonight we saw another straw break. And it's just a matter of time before he is gone. This summer if we're lucky.
What happened?
Monty and Gordon shared some words tonight as Gordon was headed to the bench.
I voted no, but I'm not sure it's because of the words you used.
So, you are going to base the entire future of this franchise on one minor tiff between player/coach? Hmm...
I vote no as well.
Well no. I am basing it off of the last season and change that he has been here. But tonight I think is further proof that not all is well with Puddin and coach.
I personally don't think Gordon will ever be the leader you might want out of a max player. However, if you can bring in another alpha-dog that's good enough to back up his mouth, I think he'd be a great 2nd or 3rd player.
I think it was just pure frustration on both sides.
There's been a lot of losing this season. If tempers were not starting to flare up now i'd be very very concerned that Monty was not challenging them. I don't think he'll be traded before the deadline because of tonight. I think he's moved for other reasons.
This isn't the first time a player has been benched and it won't be the last. Tonight isn't all that big of a deal.
Monty and Eric will kiss and make up tomorrow.
I am sure they will try being nice. You can't trade a guy until July so they have to try being amicable til then.
Just two post game quotes on it, both from EG:
On being taken out of the game
“It’s his decision to take me out of the game for the rest of the game.”
On if the Hornets had a good flow in the first half
“I thought we were. Of course you can always make adjustments throughout the game. It was early in the game. We were down at halftime by two points, and two or three possessions into the game and I’m out of there. I always want to do what’s best for the team and it was out of my right tonight. I definitely want to do what’s best for the team and since (Coach Monty Williams) took me out, he took me out. But I definitely want to be out there for sure.”
if the Pelicans are serious about their future all glass will be gone
Gordon will be gone this summer
Look at all the teams

that want to trade for Gordon
Hope he does leave.. his production is useless and we do better without him.
If Dell and Monty think his production will stay the same, then trade him. There are plenty of SG for less money that are going to be out there starting with Mayo.
I've noticed all your posts about Gordon are very biased. His production is not useless. You can see the steady recovery he is making. Im not sure that you watch the games. There is also no solid evidence that the Hornets do better without him. There is however indication that the team has won more games when he has played. I think Gordon will be a 20+ scorer next season.
Ship him off. His heart is clearly still in Phoenix.
Yeah, this Utah game was the straw that broke the camels knee for me. The back to back game thing is so ridiculous. Just not that impressed with him anymore. So long sucker!
I hope he is
Monty didn't have to keep him out though, I don't like when Monty do things like that.
This was coming sooner or later. Monty had to send a message to the team and EG10 at some point this season, as it's apparent EG10 sometimes uses his "injury" as a crutch to not always play hard. EG10 is not above the team.
Monty has benched everybody on this roster at least once this year . Including Davis & Vasquez. Gordon won't be traded . 1) nobody is going to want him . 2) he's clearly our best player purely from a talent stand point .
Gordon is wrong for talking back to his coach . Monty had every right to bench him . But at the sametime I can completely understand Gordon's frustrations with Monty
You would've thought no one would want Okafor or Ariza. We found a team that wanted BOTH.
You never really know.
He will.be here next year .
It doesn't matter how good Gordon is. If he doesn't want to be here the solution is to trade him sooner than later. Also how does any of us know who wants Gordon or his value to another team?
The man was offered a max deal after back to back injury plagued seasons.
Respectfully disagree....I think AD has proven that he's the most talented and one of the most consistant on this team.
I also think Dell needs to wake up realize that AD is the one you need to build this franchise around. **** what you told EG about him being the "cornerstone" to get him to stay. Chalk it up to a loss and get what you can for him. You have a good enough foundation to work with even without Gordon....cuz its not like he's on the floor enough to really be that guy anyway regardless of how much talent he has.
The mistake is to judge Gordon on this season's performance. He is coming off of surgery, and he only played 9 games last season. This isn't the real EJ. Dell said the plan was for him to go into the off season healthy, which is still on track, and for him to have a full off season heading into next year. I think we see Gordon return to form, and I think he is going to shut a lot of people up. Monty has said this as well, so take it for what it's worth.
This summer we CAN ship Him to Phoenix. Ship him for Dudley. That's all. Draft Oladipo or Burke. Done.
Anywho, I think he's as good as gone come the offseason.
Yeah, I get you. But some people on here are trying to downplay his talent, when really, it's an issue of health. The talent is there.
And look at how well he did in only 9 games last year. Can't predict injuries. He had to have surgery. It is what it is, but that doesn't mean he isn't an extremely talented player. My point is, if he is healthy next year, I expect him to be an all star.
Why is nobody questioning Monty on this?
In my opinion from comments made he was out of line.
You don't blast your players like that in front of everyone.
If he was as professional as he makes out to be why doesn't he
wait till he gets in the locker room to address the issue?
This apparently happened at the beginning of the half time break,
if what Gordon said to Monty was so disrespecting then he wouldn't
have played him in the third qtr. Even though it was very limited.
I just think both were very unprofessional.
Monty can make a statement like he has with his other
players this year without having to attack EJ at half time.
True....but talent doesn't always mean availability....and his lack of availability is the main issue with him. I don't think anyone saying he doesn't have the natural talent or know how...he just can't stay healthy. And you can't build your team around that. Having to wait year after year hoping for him to able stay on the floor for just one season so you can get consistant productivity will do nothing but hold a team back from moving forward. I'm just really scared if we continue this route with him we'll end up being the second coming of the Blazers during the Oden/Roy yrs.
I get people wanting to keep him because their scared to give up someone with his talent level but when he's not available to actually use that talent on a consistant basis...its just a waste of time and money. And its not like this is just since he's been in NOLA he's been injury prone since he's gotten into the league. When its a pattern its a problem.
My problem with Gordon is he has too much quit in him.
I think it'll be tough to trade him because of lack of interest. Who in there right mind wants to be tied to his contract with his current production? However, Demps has turned Julian Wright, Okafor, and Ariza into something, and Gordon is not that bad. Never say never
I am starting to have my doubts about whether Monty can lead this team to where it needs to go. Maybe it is just the young team, but I did not see him ever seem to get a handle on where he was going with the team this year. It seemed to be a very haphazard approach. The offseason will be interesting. I think he needs to get the players that can get this team going in the right direction next season.
I just watched the incident.
Monty walks past EJ and waves his arm to the end of the bench.
EJ walks another two or three steps past Monty towards the bench and then realizes Monty was talking to him.
He reacts by asking why or something along those lines.
Nothing in it......IMO
The announcer's made more of it than it was worth.
I didn't like how Monty treated EJ as if he just cost them the game.
All players commit turn overs.
I think Monty lost his cool and took it out on the closest player.
Not good for a coach and a young team.
I am willing to give him a little more time to show and tell, if for no other reason than we have so much invested in him.....my feeling right now is that Gordon is not who we thought he was and certainly not who we hoped he would be.....I think this will be a huge offseason for both he and Rivers....
