Tyreke Evans

Does everybody really want to get rid of Tyreke Evans?
I've seen some trade ideas for Tyreke Evans and on all of them I feel like we aren't getting enough for him and if we trade him we won't get enough for him because he is an expiring contract and he is coming off of knee surgeries.

So should we trade him is the question. I don't believe we should because not only is Tyreke a good player, but Pelicans need his scoring as well. If we can't get any big free agents(Which is a possibility) and with EG and Ryno leaving we can't just rely on AD, Jrue, and Buddy to pick this team up as our main scoring options.

Look Tyreke obviously played a very small sample size last year, but he was shooting great from 3 and from the FT line and his stroke just looked better. He was also passing and rebounding at career high rates and we need that on this team. Why are we trying to trade Tyreke??? To shed some cap space or just to get rid of him? I think we need to let Tyreke finish his contract here, it won't just be good for him but it will be good for us because he may have a career year with this being his contract year. What do you guys think we should do with Tyreke???

As a big Tyreke fan, I obviously want to keep him. But hopefully the team can stay relatively healthy this season so he can play more to his strengths and possibly mesh better with the system as a whole.

I agree. People complained when we didn't get something for Ryno and We have even more of a reason to trade Reke. I don't see anyway we keep him unless he changes and turns into Livingston for us. He still makes us a better team and unless we can get rid of him to help us this year in FA I don't see it being a huge need. I don't want another player on a multi year contract unless he is a very good player.

So let's say Tyreke pulls a 14-15 and plays as the second best player while putting up 18/5/6 playing 72 games would you still say shouldn't be part of the team?

Basketball is a team sport, not an individual sport.
Unless he plays within the team then who cares what numbers he put's up.

If Gentry is trying to implement ball movement and one of the senior guy's on the team ignores the coach, what example does this set for the younger players?

Tyreke who plays team ball then yes.
Tyreke who pads his own stats...then no.

Like it has been said his value is low so it not like we would get much for him. That best possible trade is Taj for Reke which I would be fine with. I'm of course a Reke fan and would like to see him play in this system with actual time to adjust. I think he can thrive his fit was weird last season but he still produced.

Well, several things.
"Let's say" is not a plan.
He won't put up those #'s, because it won't be his role & finally - if by some MIRACLE he is putting up those type of #'s, he will definitely be traded by the deadline.
So, NO, Evans should not be on the opening day roster . Regardless.

These are basically my feelings. I just don't see Tyreke commiting to team basketball. He's a very talented player but his style of play and mentality hurts the team in so many ways.

You forget the magic of contract year. It gives certain players the power of effort. Ariza seems to become a 40% on his and Bazemore doubled his point total on his.

I don't think Tyreke will ever commit to this system. I like him as a player but would rather move on from him than keep dealing with the frustrations he brings sometimes

I think at the end of the day, you move Tyreke for nothing if you have a major FA lined up like Batum, barring that, it would be wisest to raise his value through getting healthy and leveraging his desire to play for his next contract and then trading for whatever we can get for him that keeps us flexible. Though Demps history tells us he will over value Tyreke and strike out.

If not, you let him walk. Barring of course he looks like a new player.

I am all for moving him. He doesn't fit in the system and if we can trade him to say the Nets and take nothing back that's another $10m in cap space. That's big right now.

I, personally, would love to trade him to the Bulls for Taj Gibson being that we didn't extend a QO to Ennis and Gee opted out.

I didn't like the trade to begin with but mostly because of the strategy it signaled.

I got hyped two years in a row for him and slowly just began to get disillusioned watching him. He is exciting in that AND1 mixtape sense but in terms of building a team to compete for a championship, it just became more and more apparent to me he wasnt going to be able to be a part of that for a number of reasons.

Just about every game I watched AD stand there throwing his hands up after not touching the ball for 5 straight minutes so one player could play hero ball and make his big bro proud. I like Reke but it's not about the stats it's about his style of play. Surrounded by a bunch of shooters off the bench sure he can be great for us but even still that is not a way to compete with the big dogs who will take that away in the 1st playoff game.

No problem with that logic. Ifyou have a guy that makes us legit better move him.

This is true but let's not forget this happened last season too without Tyreke playing.

Tyreke is a baller.
He put's his body on the line.

However he will not be here in 2017 so why not trade him now to get an asset?
He doesn't play within the system.
