Kendrick Perkins

Sucks.
But seriously, can OKC amnesty him? I thought that they could, and if the could they should and probably would, and if so, what then? Does Perkins just become a FA and anyone can sign him for whatever? IF that is the case, would you be interested in signing him and for how much?

I think that if we could sign him to a reasonable deal for a couple of years that we should, assuming we trade Lopez. Perkins replaces Lopez hopefully for cheaper(not really sure what he would fetch in FA but I'd think it couldn't be much), gives us a better defender and rebounder and opens up more touches for AD and doesn't take minutes away from him, allowing us to still have the option to have AD and Ryno on the floor more. He is still only 28 years old and he has championship experience that would be so valuable for a team with no experience what so ever.

But this is only a good move if we can/would even sign him, and then if for a reasonable price, what do you think?

Honestly I'd rather keep Lopez. He's both cheaper and younger than Perkins.

A move like this would be a nice complementary move to moving Lopez. We'll get more impact next season on both ends of the floor from Davis and we'll get improved front court D and rebounding with Perk. I don't want this to turn into post the best line up you can think of for next year thread, but I see a move like this after we address some issues with our pick and with the Lopez trade to round out the offseason. We move Lopez, coupled with Gv, a pick, or who/what-ever, to bring in more talent or depth and then bring in another big player/contributor in your top 5 pick. Let Gordon stick around for a year with a much more talented team around him still with cap room. Then if he works out you have a lot of good developing pieces around him and flexibility, and if he doesn't work out, you still have your good young developing core and cap space and a trade piece in Gordon as an expiring.

This is just the direction I see us taking this offseason, sorry for getting off topic on my own thread

Yea that's why I was asking about him getting amnestied and such, could we possibly get him for cheaper or at least on a similar contract if he gets amnestied?

Perkins' rebounding has declined in the past 3 seasons. He averaged 6.0rpg this season compared to Robin's 5.6. Not a whole ton of difference there.

Perkins is due close to $9 mil next season and about $9.6 in 14-15. I honestly don't know how much he'd be commanding as an amnestied player.

They should of amnestied him, and then resigned Harden to a max extension. They would of win mutiple championships with Westbrook/Harden/KD/Ibaka. Terrible mistake moving Harden and keeping Perkins.

Not a whole ton yea, but you can't deny he'd have a much bigger impact on this team as a rough defender, screener, and an experienced leader in the locker room. I'm not looking at either Lopez or Perkins as an "answer" to being C or even being "long term," but I think he would be a good move to the development of this team into actually being competitive.
