I like Gordon as much as the next guy, but I think Oladipo will be a way better pro than Gordon. The guy shot 60% from the field this season go look at your next favorite Guard coming out the draft they'd be lucky to shoot 48+ (EXTREMELY LUCKY). Oladipo is a LOCKDOWN defender play's with 110% on both ends, shot 48% from 3 while not a volume shooter he knocks down his open looks, has ELITE quickness and ATHLETICISM at the NEXT LEVEL. Has a very solid mid range game, gets to the basket at will. To me he should be the undoubted #1 pick, it's really hard to knock a player who plays as hard as he does on both ends of the floor with the intangibles already there, and winning attitude. Also forgot he's an aggressive rebounder.
Quote:
Strengths: Oladipo is an explosive athlete with great leaping ability … Has nice size at about 6’5, 215 lbs, and great length and a good build ... Fantastic first step and moves well laterally … A very tough and gritty player who fights for everything … Excellent rebounder for a guard averaging over 5 per game last season … Absolutely relentless on defense and is versatile enough to guard multiple positions … Not one to be outworked on either end of the court … One of the best finishers in the country around the rim due to his athleticism and body control … Moves well without the ball and doesn’t need to have plays drawn up for him to be effective … Hard worker off the court and improved his free throw percentage by 14% this past season ...

Weaknesses: Oladipo doesn’t have much of an offensive foundation at this point … Has a subpar jump shot with mechanics that lack consistency … Not much of a ball handler at this point … Can be out of control and turnover prone … Lacks a great basketball IQ … While showing huge defensive upside, he still needs to improve his fundamentals … Fouls a bit much (2.5 topg) for a wing prospect who doesn’t even play 30 mpg ...
Sorry we should pass. We will probably keep Gordon, and draft a small forward or pg.

NOLa.
I like Oladipo but like most say on this board, we should pick him only if he's within the BPA.

That evaluation is from last summer, which is very outdated.
He is BPA, from the jump.

I like Oladipo and would prefer to replace Gordon with him(maybe via a trade with PHX for there draft pick this year). I do think his shooting % is inflated. For the most though I agree he's still young (20yo), seasoned (Jr.), but maybe most important has the physical talent to be something special.
I've been saying for a while that both he and Burke may be had this draft. That could be a nice backcourt for the future.

I'll be TOTALLY fine with getting Dipo, no doubt. I love his game and think he has a great ceiling.

I was about to say, that was when he was shooting something TERRIBLE like 28% :hihi:
I actually like his jumper form a lot now, great release and that combined with his height should lead to a great mid range game in the league.

Hell Yes lol. He's got a jet engine which means the sky is the limit.

That or imagine if we were able to get a decent SF back for Gordon, or something like sign IGGY. PHX draft pick would be golden.

lol yeah, you can see the consistency this year. I love his emotion on the court maybe more than anything, you can tell he's always fully into the game.

I was filling in the rest of the article that the original poster didnt put in. Still dont think he will be better than Gordon at all and we shouldnt get him if Gordon is on this team which i think will be the case. i will say this much he is a much better pick than Alex len.

If we moved Gordon's contract we would save a ton of cap space to offer a max deal to a player who may not be so deserving.
Say we trade him to PHX for there pick. We'd likely have to take back a bad contract maybe two. As long as they expire within a year or two we should be good. We would have Anderson on a decent deal, 4 guys at the beginning of their rookie deals, Lopez signed for another year, Vasquez at the end of his first deal, and PHX's bad expiring contract/s. We could throw a max deal Iggy's way.

I know conventional wisdom says to take the BPA in the NBA draft, but IMO there are usually tiers of players, and I think it makes sense to fill a roster hole if you have players rated similarly. I think Oladipo is in the tier right below McLemore, Smart, and Noel.
We will have a much better idea after the lottery, but right now I'd think the team ends up with Porter, Oladipo, or Burke. So as the roster is currently constructed I'd rather see the team take Porter, but Oladipo is right there on my board and I'd be happy if the Pels end up with him. Burke would also be fine. I have all three of them above Bennett, Shabazz, Len, etc.

Any concerns about his jumper, to me, are pointless. I've seen people go from having no jumper to speak of, to being known as a 3pt shooter later in his career like Richard Jefferson.
Only concern is he's not super good at creating his own offense. But he can still slash and make it happen.
Burke, Oladipo, Porter. A winning trifecta there.

This. When you grade players if one is an 80 and the other is a 78. If the 78 fills a more pressing need you take that person. Ofcourse you could make a strong case we need a 1, 2, or 3 for the future. The same positions all three just happen to play.

That was wrong. many people thought the same thing, but it's not true. Only the first year of the contract. So 1 year from the signing day.

Julian Wright was also a great athlete and was a monster dunker.
Not impressed at all.
