February 23rd - New Orleans Pelicans VS Los Angeles Lakers - 26-34
Tonight we take on the 29-29 LA Lakers.
I'm not sure if I want us to win, or lose.
On one hand, if we lose it improves our draft prospects, and also gives the Lakers another win, which pushes them closer to the playoffs and keeps their draft picks low. The higher value their pick, the more weight it holds come trade time, so unless you really love the Lakers youth, you want their pick to be mediocre.
On the other hand, I hate the Lakers and I want them to lose really badly.
Anthony Davis and E'twaun Moore won't be playing tonight, with rest cited as the reason. In reality, it seems like an odd choice: yes, it makes sense for us to sit AD on the second night of a back to back given that we don't want him playing anyway. On the other hand, he was playing 34 minutes against Memphis on the second night of a back to back just before all-star break. So it seems odd that we'd sit him now, but not then. Has the league loosened up their demands, or something? I don't think that's likely. What does that tell me? Well, I can't say anything for certain, but it stinks of Klutch and Lebron James meddling.
The one real bonus of tonight is that we'll get to watch the Lakers youth play (or most of it, Lonzo Ball is still out injured). This is good, for two reasons: firstly, if you like the Lakers youth, you want to watch them play because you want them to be on our team. Secondly, if you don't like the Lakers youth, there's gonna be a great chance for you to watch them and re-evaluate your position if new evidence comes to light. More than likely though, it will just give you more good reasons to not want Brandon Ingram (now shooting 27.5% from 3!) on your team.
Okay guys, let's go and #DoItMediumSized!
