And note that he's stalking playing alongside him. Not backing up. PF, mos def for Davis. And not just a guy that'll languish on the bench for a while at best like one Whiteside, but a guy who can come in and grab starter minutes from jump.

Throw Dyson's salary in the mix and and you can start Lopez at about $4.8 million.
I'm still a little confused as to how we can take Warrick's contract back in the deal anyway. If Hoopshype is accurate, we have only a little over $6 million in cap room currently. ($45,031 without Miller plus Rivers and Davis combined at a little over $7 million = a little over $52 million). As Warrick's contract is $4.6 million, that leaves less than $2 million under the cap). Maybe there is an exemption/exception included somewhere.

Demps is working with the Special Man. Must be the key we're missing!

I think this is correct. You get another 100k in there per the rule, bringing the total to 4&4.9m. Raises bring the total to $15.3m.

The issue then being the moratorium on doing this. With Dyson and Thomas' nonguaranteed contracts, we are definitely starting over the cap, if that matters. We are definitely over the cap post-trade, and this is what usually matters in trade scenarios.

Interesting. ESPN trade machine shows him at $4 million, not $4.6 like Hoopshype.

Regarding the cap, I calculate the Hornets being over:

    Lewis $13,700,000.00
    Gordon $13,668,750.00
    Anderson $8,700,000.00
    Davis $5,144,280.00
    B. Miller $5,104,000.00
    Aminu $2,947,800.00
    J. Smith $2,500,000.00
    Henry $2,323,200.00
    Rivers $2,238,360.00
    Vasquez $1,191,240.00
    Dyson $762,195.00
    L. Thomas $762,195.00
    D. Miller $473,604.00
    Total: $59,515,624.00

Warrick is only $4m... Hoopshype botched it. Using the TPE as it appears we can allows us to take back more than we send. However, it must still conform to other rules, and the moratorium on sending Miller with people may be in effect. Also, Dyson's deal is too small to match with someone else's in the deal, so separate deals don't seem to work.

Maybe the moratorium does not apply here. I'm waiting to see.

I thought maybe getting Johnson first would help, but we can't do that I think.

Not sure Miller is signed and maybe they can waive Thomas, but I'm not sure that'd help. Usually it's the post-trade sitaution that determines the rule.

    This seems right, otherwise.

He's not, but unless Rashard Lewis counts towards a roster spot, which I'm doubting since he's on another roster already, the roster would stand at 11 and require the rookie minimum placeholder salary anyway so I just gave that to Miller.

And so is Brad Miller, but the trade isn't complete yet. Hornetsfan was saying he thought the team was currently under the cap because no site seems to have complete salary data. Right now the only way to figure the correct team salary is with a spreadsheet.

The roster charge does not apply to trades, I think. The Lewis setoff is also not included, but I don't think it makes a difference here.

I think Phoenix wants to unload his salary and we are the obvious takers (as Minny cannot).
