Seems like we are probably going to put our chances on the buy out market.

Which, of course, is risky. Since there is no guarantee players we expect to get bought out, like Joe Johnson(especially with the Jazz's resurgence) or Brook Lopez, will actually come to a deal. Or that with Cousins out, we might just get Boston'd again as veteran players looking for a playoff team no longer see us, especially with little money to give, a top destination spot compared to some others.

I don't know if they could tank hard enough to have a shot at the protection... It's really discouraging that the front office hasn't made any other moves, but I can understand, as there is really nothing that can save this season... We need to give AD plenty of rest, work on our D and developing Diallo as much as possible the rest of the year, as well as incorporating Hill back into rotation if possible... Threekola was a great addition, but unfortunately, he and AD are going to be working overtime if we are trying to actually win any games... Next year we can "do it big" the right way... If we develop Diallo properly, he could be a great trade asset, but I'd rather us keep him.

If we obtain a serviceable BIG BODY, we can certainly grab a 6 seed. Diallo is a tweener. He's not a BIG. He's a 6'9" rail . If Niko & AD can actually play the 4, instead of banging w/ 5's, Pels will make the playoffs. If we don't get a lane stuffer, AD will be toast in a couple of weeks.

After shooting 58.4% from the field and 66.7 % from 3 @ the Pels, the Jazz went a solid 42.0% from the field and 27.3% from 3 tonight in Memphis. Just unreal

With the buyout remember - some teams have some money left from their DPE, MLE etc
F.e. Bucks - they have some millions left under tax.

So lets say when Brook or whoever will be available - other teams may outbid Pels with $$$$.
We have hope that playing time will be important for them.

I am not so sure that we have a good shot on best buyout guys.

But losing 4 of 5 or something wont help a ton there.

Marc Gasol is going to be 34 during next season, which would be his first real season with us if we got him now. He's been steadily declining in terms of speed and defense every year since the DPOY that he never should have won in the first place. His TS% has been going down for years, and at this point he's actually a net negatives offensive player in terms of OBPM and is barely positive in Offensive Win Shares.

Tyreke we've had before and I don't wanna re run that experiment, especially when he could easily leave this off season when his contract is up.

That trade would nearly cost him his job, in my view, not save it.
