Would the NBA allow the Pistols?

Would be named after the legend.

It's a play off of the Saints. It's soulful, a little spooky and also has alcohol conotations. It's sort of like Saints, sort of like Voodoo. The SPIRITS! Think about it.

Hmm, I'm wondering if it's saved in your computer history or something, because nothing is coming up when I google it. I see links to the HR pages here, and I see images of some of his other designs, but no black and gold krewe. (Depressed)

I actually like the Pistols, except it sounds too much like the Pistons.

Trade the arena league a bag of chips and a hot dog for it.

That's not bad. I remember the old ABA team, Spirit of St Louis (Lindbergh's plane).

Spirits of St. Louis was an old ABA team and is somehow tied up with some NBA revenue to this day.

Buying them out could be hard, but would be in the interest of several owners, actually.

yeah, but honoring an NBA and local legend would be a great thing.

Breakers is pretty cool. It doesn't scream NOLA by any means but Its a pretty good representation of the gulf south. If we get a cable deal done with Fox Sports Gulf South it could help extend the fan base a bit. The uniform mocks look great as well IMO

I think in order for this team to survive they are gonna have to appeal to the rest of Louisiana and the Gulf South. Breakers makes since.

This might just be me, but that makes more sense for a football team, not so much for a basketball team. One that plays 41 home games, many of which are in the middle of the week. Doesn't really lend itself well to people in other states. Now when you're trying to fill a 70,000+ seat stadium once a week, you want people from all around to come in.

They would be foolish to venture away from this being a NO team.

Come on 42, don't be that guy.

Maybe you are too young to remember his glory days at LSU, but I was a youngster back then and I remember watching Pistol Pete then, and when he played for the Original Jazz, he was bigger than Showtime all by himself.

    Why does Breakers make sense?

Even in the Bible belt, we have Saints fans.

The Saints sell themselves as the TEAM of the Gulf South. Being named the Breakers would further identify itself with the GulfSouth. Wasn't trying to say it would help endear itself to North LA per se, but would help with the Gulf Coast.

I would love to be The Pistols, complete with "old-school pirate style flintlock pistol" logo, to connect our pirate history to Pistol Pete in one image...

But sadly, the NBA will likely not allow it. The Wizards had to rebrand from the Bullets I think because it was seen as a bad thing considering DC's high crime rate at the time.

But yknow, if they approve it... New Orleans Pistols is my new favorite. Spirits isnt bad either, due to the many levels it connects with to New Orleans.

I think that attendance could be stronger but it's the merchandising and tv coverage that is lacking in most small markets. It's gonna take branching out to get people in Monroe, Jackson, Lafayette and Pensecola to wear our gear and watch the team on the tube. We have a 15 win team getting 86% capacity in the arena right now. We need fans outside the crescent city too.

Love the idea of a flintlock and a cutlass.
