"The pelican is fearsome. Take a raven, for example: it's omnivorous. It eats bugs, and seeds, and fruit, and carrion. Compared to the well-rounded citizen that is the raven, the pelican is the serial killer of birds." - Barry Petchesky, Deadspin

It was supposed to be what, $108m?

NVM, it was expected to be $121.

That's one heck of a drop. I guess that's one way to prevent stars from changing teams.

    That explains things.

Not so much a big trade in the works. But literally less money.

How is that even figured anyway?

edit: so LeBron & Steph better start throwing a game or 2 in those early round blowouts to make life better for everyone else in the Association

its actually refreshing to know that the league actually has a financial incentive to try to level out the imbalance somewhat

You know. If we just pretend Asik's contract isn't there I don't really feel bad about any of our contracts.

Hill is a slight overpay but when you look at other wings around the league, especially ones that signed last year, I'd rather have Hill than any other SF who signed for their deal last year (outside of KD of course).

Man if we could go into this off season with 75m instead of 85m on the books that'd have been nice.

We resigned Asik "because we had to".
We are going to throw the kitchen sink at Jrue "because we have to."

I know this doesn't directly answer your question but...

We resigned him because he was coming off arguably his best (or one of his best) season ever statistically and AD had already made it clear he refuses to play center.

it makes no sense. it is couple hundreds of grants of difference

we have almost eaten one year of his salary. celebrate it.

why does it feel like the cap is harder on us than most teams?

We need to figure out a way to get rid of Asik. Philly has plenty if room.

The problem was we were not competing against anyone. No one was pursuing Asik. We could have signed him for much less. Dumb Demps.

You have no proof of that. We don't know if other teams offered Asik, what those offers were, nothing of his free agency. All we know is Dell and Asik agreed to terms.
