    Rumor SI thinks a rebrand is on the way

    In years to come, there promises to be a new cable-TV partnership, the NBA All-Star Game will return to the city, the New Orleans Arena will undergo $50 million in improvements, and the franchise, in all likelihood, will be rebranded. The "Hornets" nickname, which followed the team to New Orleans during its 2002 relocation from Charlotte, will probably be replaced by an identity more fitting to the city to which the team is now married, for better and for worse. Though everyone involved hopes the worst is now far behind them.

    Saw that.....Wonder if its just speculation on his part, or he was told fom sources within the story that rebrand is coming......

    I don't give a frick what they name it, even though I think the nickname Hornets is cool, we have to rebrand in order to get an identity and connect with the city.

    I love the Hornets as a brand... But I feel a rebrand is a must to move forward and shake the relocation rumors.

    I like the Krewe also, but say it like this "the Krewe of New Orleans" instead of The New Orleans Krewe.

    The reference to rebranding in the article is clearly speculation on his part. He has no idea what is going to happen with the team concerning the ownership front. The rest of the article, on the other hand, is encouraging on all fronts. It is good to see that some of the national media is finally recognizing the good things going on in this city, both Hornets and non-Hornets related.

    While he does not say he has heard this from a source, I think it is safe to say it is not just speculation on his part. When he says "in all likelihood" the team will be rebranded, I take take that to mean he has heard from someone that there is a very good chance it will happen.

    I will always be an Arc Angels regardless of whether they exist or not. That was my New Orleans franchise team in the original NBA 2K. That team had a built in purple and gold color scheme.
