    Portland stretches Nicholson

15 hours ago – via ESPN

The Portland Trail Blazers have waived forward Andrew Nicholson, using the stretch provision to spread out the salary-cap hit on the remainder of his contract, league sources told ESPN.

Let's do this with Asik and be done with him. Gives us space for Cunningham.

Wonder what the plan is. Maybe we see Ajinca stretched? Just spitballing as I doubt Loomis allows Demps to stretch Asik and eat that much $$$.

Why is it eating money though? Isn't it just spreading the same money over way more years?

Yes, same money, but it is paying a player his entire contract to leave (and thus not having the player any longer). Would have liked for them to be able to reach a buy out, but have heard nothing about it.
