    Have y'all seen this yet?

    From the New Orleans Times-Picayune...

"Benson said he is also trying to change the name of the NBA team to better fit the ambience, culture and charm of New Orleans.
"We need to find a name like (Jazz)," Benson said, referring to New Orleans first NBA team that relocated to Salt Lake City in 1979. "Whether we can get that or let us use that, you've got to know we're working on it. We'd like to change it tomorrow. We have not gotten that approved, but we're not letting up on it, either. Because we've got a good relationship with the commissioner and his people and we're going to be on them daily to do something.""

We have a 15 win team getting 86% capacity in the arena right now. We need fans outside the crescent city too.
U bring up a good part, and with the Benson this can help with fans away from the metro area. The reason why I believe Benson bought the team was because he knew he was going to make his money back from the tv deal.... I think that's a given. Thoughts?

I would be OK with Pelicans.

What I really think would work is Revelers. Good ring, easy short-form (Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Revs?) Everyone but a few here and there ignore that suggestion, though, so it'll probably never get done.

Guess i'd be fine with Krewe, too.

I'm just afraid that it'll be a terrible name choice.

I hope it goes to a public poll. All fans in attendance at X game gets to vote on 5 finalist choices. It would be a sellout, even if we were playing the dumpster of dumpster teams.

I do think that the Breakers color scheme closely resembles that of the Mavs. Although I like the name and it's association to our city, it was not a franchise name that originated here. It's not that big of a deal but it could be for some people. I was happy to do the concept even though I had it planned already, the request for it just pushed it ahead of the Corsairs.

Speaking of the Corsairs, I am working on the uniform concepts and other logos. And also, like most of you have asked, I think that it does sound better if they were referred to as the Crescent City Corsairs. Even though I don't think it would happen with our city name being too famous and integral to branding and marketing.

Two new names have popped into my head.

    Keeping up the religious theme:

    New Orleans Ascension

    New Orleans Resurrection

Davis ascends to the hoop. The Resurrection came from behind to win again.

Pentecost just didn't have it, and its too late in the season usually.

Saints is about as far as I'm willing to go with religious themed names.

    The New Orleans Yats

Unique to the city and not cliche like Mudbugs and some of the other things we're likely to get stuck with. It could also help establish a connection with the Saints to help bring in more fans: Who Yat Nation, etc

always a fan of the Knights, but doesn't really have anything to do with NOLA.

NOLA Nights - old Arena team.

    New Orleans Chefs

New Orleans Knights would be straight PIMP. However, it wouldn't do much for the whole local brand thing. You could make the colors purple and gold and the logo a knight holding a shield with a fleur de lee on it. Secondary logo could be kinda like one of those crest things.... Puttin way too much thought into something that wont happen
