Gordon to undergo stringent rehabilitation work for the next few weeks

New Orleans Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon is expected to undergo some stringent rehabilitation work over the next few weeks with the team's training staff to help push his recover time from recurring problems with his right knee, Coach Monty Williams said.

Near the end of Monday’s practice, Gordon was seen riding on a stationary bike with a long protective sleeve covering his right knee. After his rehabilitation workout, Gordon had ice bags over both knees.

``He is going to be rehabbing for the next few weeks until his quad gets a lot stronger,’’ Williams said. ``That’s a big deal for him right now getting his quad (muscles) stronger. I think he’s going to be under some strict rehab and strengthening for a few weeks.''

Gordon’s new prognosis that he will be sidelined for an additional four to six weeks was determined after he underwent further evaluations last week in Chicago to determine the extent of his knee problems. Gordon missed all of training camp, the Hornets’ eight-game preseason schedule and their first three regular-season games. At the earliest, Gordon is not expected to return until mid-December.

Other than Williams' detailing Gordon's upcoming rehabilitation work, the only other update the Hornets have provided regarding Gordon's status since last week was disclosing they were still gathering information.

Hmm I wonder if he likes what he says on the court, is getting anxious to get back out there. So he decided to speed things up some.

I would love to see the size of the Eric Gordon folder tucked away in Dell's office from all the "information they have gathered" over the last year.

Why did they do the piddley rehab first? Go to directly to stringent rehab. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

I think a constant nagging question over the last several seasons has been the competence level of the team's medical/training staff. If Gordon is good to go in 4-6 weeks after visiting an outside specialist for a condition that seemed to have stumped the team doctors, then that's one more plume of smoke, and where there's smoke...

And that's not a good fire to have going when your star player is injury prone.

Completely agree. If you are going to invest a max salary you find the best care possible and mandate the rehab from the word go. You wouldn't buy a Ferrari then let 5 min oil change service your transmission. Mistake by management.

In other news... Marion suffered a MCL sprain... he will miss 1 WEEK. Eric Gordon has a sore knee and he missed 1 YEAR!!!

Which is why this seems like BS.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

Yeah! And I was just playing that game and landed on income tax for the 5th time. Damn near threw the tablet out the window.

    Carry on.

All of this from one knee bump in the first game last year.

IIRC, the knee was actually hurt from before that. He was just playing through it.

It kinda makes me wonder if we are trying to keep him away from the team.

Just because Gordon has forfeited the benefit of the doubt with the fans doesn't mean we have to automatically assume the worst about everything. There are lots of top doctors and trainers in Los Angeles.

I'd be worried if he went to Indiana, but Los Angeles? Nah.

It's really not unusual for a player to rehab in Los Angeles. I'm actually glad he's going there.

I actually feel better about his return this year than I did last year.. he seems to be more focused (or at least publicly) to coming back and playing.

I'm with you. He has done nothing to earn the benefit of the doubt. There are plenty of doctors here to rehab with. The fact that 6 weeks put him right at the date he is eligible to be traded also raises some flags. It may all be coincidental, but we will see.

You obviously missed the word KINDA. It is an abbreviation of "kind of". When that is used before a statement of "make me wonder", that means I don't really think that's the case but it has crossed my mind.

It's OK, jumping to conclusions has become quite common around here, especially with regards to Gordon.

I have this great invention!! It's called the JUMP to Conclusions Mat! You see, it would be this mat that you would put on the floor... and would have different CONCLUSIONS written on it that you could JUMP TO.
