Source: Eric Gordon has not requested a trade

The only thing missing from the confusing saga over Eric Gordon's mysterious knee injury is a good, old fashioned trade request. And neither Gordon nor his agent has made one, a league source told CBSSports.com.

Team officials are hoping for some clarity on Gordon's status in the coming weeks, and while additional surgery is not a certainty, it hasn't been ruled out, either. But as for the drama factor, there has been no indication from Gordon -- stated or otherwise -- that his goal is getting out of New Orleans.

When coach Monty Williams oddly ruled Gordon out "indefinitely" Wednesday, and when Gordon further confused matters with vague, contradictory statements when he met with the media Thursday, it only fueled speculation that Gordon was still bitter over the Hornets matching the Suns' offer sheet for him during restricted free agency.

This is yet another of the odd contradictions in the Gordon saga; it doesn't fit with his actions. When the team gathered for voluntary workouts in August, Gordon was there -- was there early, in fact. When last season ended -- a season in which Gordon played only nine of 66 games -- Gordon spent the majority of the time working out in New Orleans before heading to Las Vegas with Team USA.

Something happened -- or didn't happen -- between the time Gordon left Team USA and rejoined the Hornets for training camp last month. On Thursday, he called it "sort of" a setback. There's damage, but nothing structural; what the doctors are seeing on his MRI doesn't match what Gordon is feeling in the knee. You've heard it all by now.

No ****. Can we stop with all the "Gordon is faking it" crap?

The dude is injury prone, so get over it guys. Buckle up for the next 3-4 years because there will be many highs and lows, but when it's all said and done, Gordon is en elite player in this league, and he has the talent to lead us to a championship.

I agree, but the way the Hornets & Gordon has handeled this leads to people thinking he might be faking it. They need to stop with all the vague statements and give us the truth and we will be more understanding.

But people defending him make me sick.. Tell me one good thing he has done for our basketball team? Was it the 9 games he played last year? Was it him begging to go to Phoenix? Was it him publicly trashing our management for hesitating to offer such an injury prone player a $58 million contract? How about the criticism for drafting Rivers? His petty insecurity? Was it maybe his avoidance of the media yesterday? What about the fact that he does NOT want to be here?

People here him say "I love the city" etc.. Funny how he didn't say that until he was locked into a contract, and funny how he needed 24 hours to prepare a statement regarding that for today.

It's been said before, he either doesn't want to be here, or he's too soft to be anything of worth to this franchise. Oh yeah, and he is no 'leader' either.

When the head coach is perplexed about his injury and says "he probably does feel pain", all after watching him practice hard on back-to-back days, and also says "it's got to be medical...", fans can guess whatever they please. Most fans suggest he might feel pain, but the guy is soft and should be able to play through it.

At this point, nobody knows whats going on but Eric. Given that man's physche, he might not even know.

So a player has to "Love" the city he plays in? *Edit*

Agreed, but I think that is mostly because they aren't sure what's wrong with Gordon's knee. People demand answers, and since Demps/Monty/Gordon don't know the answer yet, they are fumbling their words. I don't think they are hiding anything. I think they just have no clue what's going on.

Monty, admittedly, has absolutely no clue what is going on with Gordon, and he wants to keep it that way. He doesn't like knowing player's specific injuries. He just wants to know if they can or cannot play. Also, he backtracked today in one of his interviews where he said:

"Obviously, there's something that he's not comfortable with, and the doctors may feel the same way, so he's probably going to see a number of doctors to make sure that there's nothing that is going to cause him further damage."
You can hear it for yourself (click on the Monty video between Aminu and Gordon, starts at 4:00):

The problem is that Gordon is feeling a lot of pain, and he doesn't know if playing through it will effect him long-term. That is his hesitation, and I totally understand it. If it is something that he can play through, and it will hurt, but it won't injure him long-term, I think he suits up as soon as possible. He just needs to get the information first before he decides to play through the pain. That is how I interpret what Monty is saying, anyway.

Yeah, after stepping away and reassesing the situation, I'm willing to give Gordon the benefit of the doubt.....for now.

I just want to see him on the court playing for us so badly!!

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

If he's back before December and is playing just fine with no rumors of trade demands, a lot of people are going to look foolish.

I'm just going to wait and see what further analysis says about his state of health. I don't think Gordon is going to suddenly start a trade demand now after seeming to have made a much better attempt to connect with the organization since we matched.

I think a lot of people are too easily swayed by a few nice words here and there. His heart can be in Phoenix, But once we resign him he says ''He loves New Orleans and the Hornets'' and people take that as fact. Now i'm gonna wait until the doctors shed some more light on this to come right out and blast Gordon. But i'm not gonna be naive and blind myself to the fact that it's not all good behind the scenes just cus he said so in a rehearsed interview.

All the talent in the world is going to do him and us no good if he isn't able to stay on the court. An answer of 'We're just going to have to deal with it for 4 years' isn't going to cut it. How is the team every going to build consistency is Gordon is always in and out of the lineup?

The guy has played 9 games out of a possible 67 with this team thus far. He hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt.

To be elite you actually have to play. Wake me when this guy actually plays half a season.

Already seen enough. Thinking a player with this many injuries is worth $15 million a year is the foolish part.

If you already thought that he wasn't worth $15 million from the get-go, then what I said doesn't apply to you. I was referring to those that had a sudden change of heart because of this or believe he's trying to force his way out.

This. The naivety of some people on this forum is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I would love seeing Gordon out on the court scoring 20+ a game, it's what we are paying him for. If you can honestly say you're content watching a guy trash his team, then get paid $15 million to sit on their bench for what could potentially be an entire season for reasons he wont even tell them (us), then you've completely lost me.

Easy way to get this resolved. There's this knee specialist two states away in Birmigham, Alabama. His name is Dr. Andrews. Send his *** to him and let him look at knee, then all questions will be answered.

    1. I don't think he's faking anything.

    2. Lets let him lead a team to the first round of the playoffs before we dub him able to lead his team
    To a ship.

    3. Injury prone does not even begin to describe him.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

So are people not supposed to get upset that this guy doesnt play? What if he misses the entire year? There comes a point in time where enough is enough. Injures do not take 2 years to heal.

Point being, he is only in his first year of a four year deal. It's incredibly frustrating, but I don't think that time has come yet.

The problem his injury issues were documented before his latest 4 year max deal. Do you feel it is OK to give him 14 million this year if he doesn't play a single game?

Starting to think everyone who believes he's actually hurt read his interview transcript and didn't watch the actual video. If you watched the video, especially the end, and you still defend him, you're probably the type that is willing to ignore the last four years and vote for Obama again too.

When someone asks you if you think you'll see the court this year. And it's pain you have and no structural damage. You say, "Oh yeah I'm playing this year. It's just a matter of when." Put Kobe in this situation and even if the doc said it was unlikely he'd get back for 3 months he'd lie and say he's comin back. Sorry for the anger but man some of you guys are so gullible and you're not helping the situation by taking his side and I want to invite you all over for poker night at my house..
