After missing Friday night’s game against the Houston Rockets because of a tweaked groin, New Orleans Hornets rookie forward Anthony Davis said he plans to practice Sunday after Coach Monty Williams gave the team Saturday off.
Davis said he sat out Friday's game only as a precaution.
``That was it,’’ Davis said in the locker room following Friday’s 95-75 loss to the Rockets at the Toyota Center. ``Yep, I’ll be back Sunday.’’
Williams said Davis tweaked his groin during Thursday night’s 90-87 victory against the Charlotte Bobcats in Charleston, S.C. Davis sat out the entire fourth quarter before scoring 12 points and grabbing nine rebounds.
``He responded to treatment, but (head trainer) Jon Ishop didn’t like the way he looked before the game,’’ Williams said before Friday night’s game at the Toyota Center. ``We’re just going to make sure make sure he’s right. We have a lot of days before our next game, so we don’t want to chance him hurting himself.’’
