Hornets Exec Detained At Airport w/ Gun

    http://www.wwltv.com/news/Report-Hor...171929111.html

An executive with the New Orleans Hornets was detained by TSA agents at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey Friday, after they discovered a loaded handgun in his bag, according to a report in the New York Post.

The newspaper said that Hornets vice president Joshua Richardson was charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon.

Cmon dude really? How does ANYBODY gets caught with a gun at an airport? Dude you didn't know you had a LOADED gun in your bag?
Either somebody slipped one in there without him knowing, or he's just as dumb as other people that has gotten busted.

After 911 you'd think he'd be more careful.

New Orleans Hornets VP Joshua Richardson had allegedly taken the weapon on his trip to the New York area by accident after he grabbed his wife’s bag containing the weapon, instead of his own.
    Allegedly.

The female got all the way to Jersey from Orlando with her loaded pistol but because she reported it once she got there, she was let go without any charges. The fact that she was even able to make it on board with the thing should be enough to alarm future passengers.

    Yeah?

I'm still missing how the organization would punished for this. This guy obviously has gotten himself into some trouble, but it's not like it happened on the team's watch/facalities or anything.

No big deal. But you asked me why would we get in trouble, and I obviously don't know, that is why I was asking. I have no idea if there existed some kind of crazy conduct rule like there is for players or somethig crazy like that. Like I said before wierder things have happened in the NBA and I wouldn't put it past Stern.

What weirder things have happened? The most I see happening, if anything at all, would be the guy getting fired because of the legal trouble he would be in.

The blocking of a superstar caliber trade. And then that draft that team winning the draft lottery. You don't think that's weird? Dumb fines seem to be issued all the time in the nba.

The Commissioner isn't going to penalize the team for off-the-court actions of some business side vice president. He isn't even involved in basketball operations. 'Worst' thing that happens is Benson fires him and who really cares who the Vice President of Communications or whatever is?

One more tidbit on this. It sounds like the gun was in a checked baggage. The original article almost made you think he had the gun in a carry on in the actual seat with him but this article sounds like that wasn't the case. Apparently the firearm hadn't been declared and properly packed.

The firearm apparently was transported in checked baggage, which isn't prohibited, but a declaration is required, Payne said.
