One of the better supported names on here is too polarizing? I think you are greatly overestimating how many people think like you do.
Every bit as negative as Vampires and Zombies. You're right, the public would never spend their entertainment dollars on anything associated with something so unsavory. While voodoo wouldn't be as unpopular as Muslims, it still has a negative connotation that would turn some people off.

Arena Bowl tonight -- if Benson were ever going to rekindle negotiations with the AFL now would be the time.

If attendance was about 7k, you figure maybe 2.5-3k from each team and 1k or so local? High school teams travel better than that.
When Pelicans becomes the official mascot, hopefully placing the Louisiana State flag at midcourt will get some consideration.
I don't like the Voodoo name but WDC is making me like it more after each of his post.
I really like the Pelicans! Have you guys seen the designs? It pretty swagish lol.

Pelicans will be a embarrassing disgrace to rebrand. No people will find it "hip" cool or cute but only a few New Orleans people. Let's be real people.
Yet matter of fact, pelican lovers should ask people of this website, on the streets, campus, social networks, and outer state and see how many New Orleanians and others think how "awesome" it is.
By the way I vote, Krewe,Brass, Knights, and Voodoo.

No one, and I mean no one, outside of the city of New Orleans will find Krewe "hip," cool, or cute. Brass and VooDoo, with the right design, could have appeal outside of the region. Knights, aside from alliterative value, is no less generic than Wildcats, Eagles, Panthers, or Bulldogs.
