    Couple things.

    Just renewed my Voodoo tickets.

Also, the Arena Bowl got moved to 9:30 local time... it got pumped by the Jets preseason game (Tebow).

Keep them as the Hornets all of these names suck and the racially charged suggestions on NOLA.com make the city look bad.

I have always liked the hornets name too, however from a merchandising standpoint, the hornets brand will forever be linked to Charlotte. Which wouldn't be a problem except that the Charlotte brand of the hornets is more popular and recognizable than the New Orleans hornets brand, especially outside of the state. No need to live in that shadow forever. I would give a new name to support in this post, but the two that I offered up months ago were not too popular,so imma just stay silent on that...

I'm leaning towards something original right now even though VooDoo and Brass are solid names.

Arc Angels, Carnival, and even Krewe. But I would be good with VooDoo and Brass too. Those are the 5 names I'm fine with.

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

Krewe remains the name that is easiest to identify with. Just cuz it isn't immediately obvious to the uninitiated, it only takes a brief explanation before it settles into being accepted.

"Krewe? You mean like a funny spelling of Crew?"
"Kind of. It's what Mardi Gras parade organizations call themselves like the Krewe of Zulu or the Krewe of Rex."
"Oh. Okay. Kinda cool, I guess."
    "Yeah."

Honestly, I feel if we want to go the Mardi Gras route, I would prefer Carnival over Krewe. I feel Carnival would be a natural fit like Jazz and VooDoo. Wouldn't need any kind of conversation about it. Use Mardi Gras colors and it would definitely be a great Mardi Gras name and original as well.

However, Arc Angels would totally be epic...............................

I like Krewe cuz it's people. There's an aesthetic there I identify with.

Carnival, to me, sounds like a big party that isn't to be taken seriously. Not a joke, so much as some place to have fun and cut loose.

And Arc(h) Angels has a nice ring to it...............................................

Crap. I think I did that wrong.

You're right, but that's what Mardi Gras is and New Orleans Carnival would be similar to New Orleans Jazz or New Orleans VooDoo. Just a natural fit. Plus, who wouldn't have fun watching a game with Davis, Anderson and Gordon? Would be one big party. I think it would really work, especially with Mardi Gras colors.

Nothing wrong with Carnival. Just rather go with Basketball Krewe of New Orleans as the official name.

    Dukes!!!

    for those newbs.

    1) City named after Duke of Orleans
    2) Every Mardi Gras krewe has leadership called.. Dukes.
    3) Even connects with our musical heritage, the Dukes of Dixieland.
    4) Dub did a nice mock up on the unis and logos as well.

I've grown partial to Voodoo myself. Rolls off the tongue better than any other options IMO.

Rhythm Kings were THE original New Orleans' jazz band.....and is cooler than krewe. The Trail Blazers have a two part name.

a lot of good NORK jazz to play at the games, too

I was just glossing over this thread but is this off-season really still a possibility?? I mean I know the Nets have yet to unveil their new jerseys and such and honestly what better way to cap this momentous off-season with a top down last minute rebrand.

Hey guys, new poster. I am originally from South Carolina, grew up a Hornets fan, and went to college in Charlotte. When the Bobcats became a franchise I made them my team, 'cuz the Carolinas are my home; but I'm about at my last straw with this franchise. The name Hornets will always be synonymous with Charlotte, and growing up, for me. I'm hoping Jordan cleans house like Benson is doing, and I'm hoping y'all change your name so Charlotte gets the name back - but as you can imagine I'm about at my breaking point with that franchise.

I moved to Mississippi State for gradschool and I love visiting NOLA. My fiancee loves it too, and we can see ourselves possibly living there one day. Charlotte is still home in my heart, so I'm hoping y'all change your name, Jordan buys it, and we see drastic improvement in the QC. I really like Voodoo, Krewe, and Archangels for the name change. I don't like angels and I really don't like cardinals. There would be, what, 3 major sports teams with the name cardinals? If Jordan doesn't get his **** together I'll be all in with this franchise, this is my neck of the woods now, this is my old franchise, and I hate everything about the Bobcats except for the city they belong to. Just change the name, Hornets will forever be Charlotte and growing up to me. NOLA deserves its own brand.
