Plus we don't need to be great right now..we're rebuilding
Mainly, and probably Miller a bit too (and Miller will be a ton worse). We aren't a championship caliber team this year anyway. Giving him the room to develop as a solid role player is the best thing we can do right now. Because a solid role player is what we need at his position.
That and he already has all the physical tools to defend as effectively as anyone can against those players ... what he needs is experience.
We had Dajuan Summers and Ayon Guarding Durant last season when Ariza was injured. I think we'll be alright this year. Our team defense kept the team in games against those teams when we were playing guys like Squeaky and Summers. I think we'll be alright.
Blatche was amnestied apparently..
Diop, Andersen and Calderon were NOT amnestied, deadline now closed.
With our roster as it is presently (presuming no further major moves) I think we're looking at a 30 win season for 2012-13- I really don't see us finishing any higher than 12th in the West, it's just so deep. We may overtake Phoenix and Houston, but I don't really see many other teams dropping significantly. We're probably looking at a lottery slot in the 7 to 10 range a year from now..
"I'd like to send this letter to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail. Am I too late for the 4:30 auto-gyro?"
There's also a rumor on the ESPN mill about Jimmer being available due to the crowded backcourt there.. apparently Evans isn't the one out although I'm sure he'd get the most value in return. They just signed Brooks, so Jimmer is listed as #3 PG.
Doubt we'd have interest in 2 PG projects... but, we don't have a backup SG right now unless it's Henry.
I'd take Jimmer if they gave him away for like a 2nd round pick or something. Maybe Henry and a future pick. Nothing else.
Being the cautious type, yes.. based on the fact that we've lost seven major rotation players from last season, two of our most important players are still only teenagers, and the fact that the Western Conference is really strong, and deep. I actually just started a new thread on this topic- happy for people disagree vehemently!
Birdman Amnestied... Nuggets sign Ant Randolph in his place.
"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."
if we can get Jimmer for one of the Brad Miller 2nds, I'd be mighty fine. hahaha high risk/low reward
Ryan Gomes was the last player to be amnestied before the deadline.
David Aldridge @daldridgetnt
Last amnesty casualty is Ryan Gomes, waived by the Clippers just before the deadline Tuesday night. Fifteen teams have used it in last year.
Now that Gomes is gone, does that mean that S&T with Beli is out the window? Don't care either way, just curious.
i hope if birdman clears waivers hornets try to bring him in. It would be nice he used to be a fan favorite here before his drug stuff.
Shannon Brown is close to signing with an unknown team, according to Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times.
Woelfel notes that the Bucks had interest in Brown, but he is close to signing with "another unknown team." The Suns had also been rumored to have interest in bringing him back, and Brown is known to be looking for a multi-year deal.
.....
SIGN A SF
would love to get Shannon Brown. hes a very underrated player. Would be a nice pickup but i doubt we are the team since we are still in serious need of big men and have little cap room left.
