The Knicks wanted to include Fields as part of a sign-and-trade with the Suns for Nash (meaning the Knicks could pay Nash a reasonable salary).
The Raptors are offering Nash 12mil per season, which the Knicks can't match. As soon as they heard about the Knicks potential deal, they offered Fields a heavily back-ended 3 year deal, which he's apparently agreed to..
Hehe Raptors, stick it to the Knicks!

Yep.
http://espn.go.com/boston/nba/story/...ct-sources-sayFree agent guard Jason Terry is closing in on a three-year contract with the Boston Celtics, sources close to the situation confirmed Tuesday.
Terry's offer from the Celtics is believed to be for the full mid-level exception of $5 million annually.
Nash would be great for the Knicks, and specifically for Lin. Nash would be a good Linfluence.
Celtics and Terry reach deal.

Reggie Evans on the move to Brooklyn?

Brooklyn has agreed to a 3-year, $5M sign-and-trade for Reggie Evans, sources tell Y! The Clippers will get a distant future 2nd round pick.
Whoa.. Howard, Evans and Wallace together on the boards..
Seems like they're already working out their Miami-type roster signings
I doubt L.A. is willing to give up Bynum for a rental. If they were, I would imagine the deal would be done already. It looks like Orlando's only options are to deal with teams who would accept a rental or make a deal with the nets. Orlando has no leverage whosoever.
If Orlando traded Howard to LA, and the Lakers 'rented' him for a season, would it be possible for Howard to still make it back to the Nets? The only way he can do it now is as part of a trade (providing the Nets can sign and trade Lopez and Humphries), or so at least that's the impression I got. If he goes to the Nets as a FA, they'll have like 5-10mil to offer him at the most I would think?
Howard could of course walk out on LA for someone other than the Nets, but who?..
http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakers...,7220021.storyThe Lakers currently won’t accept a trade for him without getting more years tacked on to the one he has left (for $19.5 million).
A rental just isn't going to happen.
What is with Howard and Brooklyn? Most of the big FAs that make big fuss about going to bigger markets would be thrilled with the Lakers
There must be bad blood between Dwight and Kobe for him to hate the Lakers this much and claim to want to go to a big market... Or maybe he's in love with Williams?
