Dukes are sons and or nephews of kings who got credit for winning battles by sitting on a horse at the back of the battlefield and watching the unfortunates get shot and stabbed until they or the others gave up.

    Philippe II, Duke of Orléans

His father having gained military distinction in the Battle of Cassel and during the decisive French victory against William III of England, Chartres would similarly demonstrate military prowess. Chartres had his first experience of battle at the siege of Mons in 1691, the year before his marriage. He fought with great distinction at the Battle of Steenkerque on 3 August 1692. In the same year Chartres also served at the Siege of Namur. The following year Chartres served at the Battle of Landen; he fought along side the prince de Conti, who was wounded.
During a hiatus between military assignments, Chartres studied natural science.
In the next century, Chartres would serve in the War of the Spanish Succession. He was next given a command in Italy (1706) and gained much credit for the Battle of Turin. Later he went to Spain and took part in the Battle of Almansa, a major step in the consolidation of Spain under the Bourbons (1707), where he achieved some important successes.

Benson seems intent on intermingling the operations and staffs of both his NFL and NBA franchises. So it would naturally follow that he would want to have names for both that interrelate.

So I'd postulate that names like Angels and Cardinals have to be heavy favorites right now since they closely relate to the Saints.

Second tier, those that relate to the city/region but less so to the Saints are Dukes, Royals.

Others that are just just regional but still good: Pelicans, Krewe, Voodoo, Pirates, Brass, Revelers, Jesters, Buccaneers, Privateers.

IMHO amorphous names like Spirit, Bounce, Rhythm, Pride, Soul are just not good mascot choices. Surge could work because it has a regional tie-in.

Benson said he wanted to get the Jazz name back... not Saints related but has regional ties. I agree the name should be something regional...

"Bounce" definitely is regional. Its a music style indigenous to New Orleans

Yep I'm not sure what to think of the AFL/Voodoo rejecting the offer given the league's financial situation. My guess is they just want to exact a higher price out of Benson. They aren't really in a position to just flat out ignore a large cash payment.
