Man you beat me to the punch! I think this might be interesting.
In all honesty, I couldn't complain about a deal like this.
i just looked okafor's contract; he has 5 years left on his contract; so how does this cut payroll???
harvey, where are you????????????????
i guess there actually were talks about moving a core piece in order. don't know what to expect from okafor and how to build around that.
I'd love the signing but Okafor just signed a 6 year $72 million dollar deal. Thought we were trying to shed payroll?
As has been said, it has not nearly as much to do with cutting payroll as it has getting rid of a potential problem. We would have Okafor through his prime years at a reasonable salary for a top 10 center instead of possibly getting burned with Chandler and his injuries.Originally Posted by CP4MVP
Great Move if made....I love TC, but with the chronic injuries, I feel that he is on the downslide of his career (shame considering his age).....Okafor on the other hand is a stud about to be getting into his prime.......Im all for this move
why would they do this though? i'm very interested to see what happens
Okafor has been injnury-prone also... lets hope he's over his nagging injuries.
Edit... throw in Peja for Gerald Wallce... then we'd be talkin bout somethin'
Starting line-up...
CP
Rasual
Wallace
DWest
Omeka
I would absolutely love something along the lines of TC, Wright and the expirings of Antonio Daniels and Devin Brown for Okafor and Gerald Wallace.
Early in his career he was however the past two seasons he's played in all 82 games.Originally Posted by DroopyDawg
Man I highly doubt that Gerald Wallace will be involved in this
If we get Okafor and Gerald Wallace for that I would go into cardiac arrest. I don't think that's what's going down but it would be awesome.Originally Posted by Saints Fan in A
Isn't Michael Jordan involved with the Bobcats front office? Hmmmmmm maybe it IS possible.
Love the idea of moving Chandler, and I like Emeka, just hope that the back injuries are a thing of the past. The last thing we need is yet another player missing 20-30 games per year, especially one we'd be locked into for 5 more years. Just something to consider.

I don't know. They couldn't sell tickets before the recession and they're on a youth movement. It wouldn't shock me. Nothing would, especially if they value Wright. That could be why we've been selling him as a starter though he hasn't done a thing in his career to this point.
Hmmmmmm, I want to hear more about this player. Contract looks kind of long.
man, if we could pull this off and maybe even throw in one of the expiring contracts of AD or DB, and either a future first or JuJU (pref. the furture first) for Gerald Wallace, and sign Warrick, i'd say that would be one of the best off seasons we coulda hoped for.
CP3/Collison
Rasual/Thornton/Mo
Wallace/Peja/JuJu (if first pickis traded)/ Posey
West/Warrick/Posey
Okafor/Hilton/(cheap big man..marks?)
2008–09 season
Okafor will enter the 2008–09 season with active franchise-record streaks of 93 consecutive games played and 92 consecutive games started.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emeka_Okafor
okafor has played all 82 games the past 2 seasons
and look injuries is always a risk; just take grant hill as an example
b4 hill joined orlando
he played 70, 80, 80, 81, 50(only a 50 game season), 74 games
then with orlando he played 4, 14, 29, 0, 67, 21, 65
I am down for this trade now. I think it is a good chance to take at this point.
Bower is my hero if he pulls this deal off. Seriously.
