Just turned it on.
Shinn just said that we'd be surprised at the number of people already calling the Hornets to replace Floyd.
Says there is one coach high on the pecking order, but one of the top players hates him

new coach will bring his own system and expects him to fit system to the players he has
Westphal is my guy. Whether they can get him or not is another story.
asked whether he had another candidate last year that they let slip away.
Shinn hesitated and eventually said lets move on. I think he regrets letting his foolish pride get in the way of making the right move.
I have to say, I'm surprised at the seeming candidness from Shinn so far. They aren't sidestepping nearly as much as I expected.
They still need a GM in place before a head coach IMO. That can only lead to future problems if the Coach comes before the GM.
Why fire Floyd?
Bass says because we didn't advance.
How far would we have had to advance for Floyd to stay?
Shinn said if we went to the Finals and won, yeah, but inbetween it's hard to speculate.
Having said that, they both seem upset at having to sit up there and are being unnecessarily snippy with the media members who are actually asking them real questions for a change.Originally posted by Lurkaholic

Shinn says Floyd wonderful person. Great wife and family. Tough to fire him. He hated to do this, but had to because of passion and dreams to make team successful.
He's right, Floyd is a nice person.
Shin said he wants a proven successful coach and GM.
He said that if it takes more money, he will do it.
My Prediction:
GM: Mike Fratello
HC: Byron Scott
Trade Mags & Rodgers for Lamar Odom
Still, I give Shinn and Bass credit for appearing before the media and taking the questions this year. He definitely learned from last year's mistake of staying silent.
As for free agency, right now we're limited to mid-level exception. Always sign and trades, but have to go through the process.
I know, I hope (& think) that he'll stay here in New Orleans.
Is Bass @ the press conference too?
I bet old Paul is grinning from ear to ear right now.
I wholly agree. That's why I posted my surprise at their candidness. Also, does it seem to anyone that Bass has parkinsons. He seems to have a pretty good tremor going on. He also looks REALLY uncomfortable up there.Originally posted by say-what

Shinn not looking for GM/coach combo
that most likely eliminates Fratello too since he seems to insist on both jobs.Originally posted by say-what

I would think the quality of coach we need we would have to be the ones doing the calling. Lets hope that is true.
I edited the title as this is not on ESPNews as I originally thought. It's actually a CSTV feed, it seems. Props to CSTV for not dropping the ball on the press conference today as they did with the Bass press conference.
Asked about Mash
Bass and Shinn both declined.
Bass replied - why would you ask that now.
They really don't want to address this now.
Shinn says Mash a tremendous talent, incredible athlete. If he comes back, we know the best way to manage him. Also a lot of trade possibilities. Need to get him healthy and right - if so keep him, but need to do what's best for team, trade value mentioned again.
