Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the New York Knicks. They have a long, storied NBA history, and some of the greats have played for them. They've had Ewing, they've had Walt, they've had Willis Reed.
Unfortunately for them, it's 2018 and they suck. They have no Porzingis, Courtney Lee is out, Lance Thomas is out, and they've been bad for years. They have the 25th ranked offensive rating in the league, and in a fun combination, also the 25th ranked defense in the league. They are 22nd in ppg, 19th in pace, and are 4-11 on the season.
So, what are they good at? Well, offensive rebounding: the Knicks are the best offensive rebounding team in the league, with a little over 12 per game. That means we're really going to have to fight for defensive boards to prevent them racking up second chance points. That's about it though.
27th in assists, they don't move the ball well on offense. 14th in steals and 19th in blocks, they aren't that active on the defensive end of the floor. They're 28th in the league in 3pt percentage, and only 26th in the league in 2pt percentage. Their only real offensive threat is Tim Hardaway Jr, so it falls again to Jrue to matchup against another 20+ppg guard tonight. I have absolute faith that he can do a good job on him. After that, there's Enes Kanter, who is a huge part of their rebounding but whose offensive game is so limited and whose defense is so suspect that AD, Niko, and Randle should be able to bulldoze over him at will.
They do have some other solid players, or players with potential, but none of them have yet reached that level where they are a serious, consistent threat. We should win this with relatively little trouble, especially at home.
Let's get back in the win column. If anyone is interested, I predicted our record before the season, and I thought we'd be 8-6 at this point, so we're actually not too far off. #DoItBig
