Gentry said he's dealing with a sports hernia. Jesus.
Welp
Where did he say this?
Crap

"Rondo is reportedly dealing with a sports hernia and will be seeing a specialist to determine the next step on Monday, Sean Kelley of ESPN radio reports. Rondo's timetable for a return likely depends on whether or not he decides to undergo surgery or try and play through it, so we'll have to wait until he visits a specialist to see what route he ends up taking. Either way, it's certainly concerning for his availability to start the season..."
Seriously, we are cursed.
Have the surgery tomorrow & Rondo would be back in Week 3 of season. 4-6 wk. recovery pending on Rondo's body. Assuming he's in great shape & follows recovery protocol, he could be back in week 3 of regular season. I say have surgery now.
More information will be available after Rondo visits specialists Monday, but sources say initial expectation is he'll miss around a month.

so two starters out to start the season. it seems to be like this every year for the Pels
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
So pathetic there's nothing else to do but laugh.
I don't believe in curses, but the Pelicans have had injuries ever since they changed the name to Pelicans
We have to win early for confidence.

I'm guessing you don't remember the Baron Davis injury years, the ending of both Mashburn and Peja's careers, Tyson foot and it's magical heal after leaving, CP3's long list of injuries, David West's back and blown out knee etc etc etc. Happened well before the Pels became a thing.
unless there is some reason why they wouldn't, I'm thinking the Pels need to make a move and go after a Ty Lawson now...from what I gather, he still possesses the skills to run the point for this team...

He signed a contract in China.
Frankly it’s not the starting unit I’m worried about so much as the backup. We have Finch who just got done running a league leading offense through a facilitating big man like Cousins and mostly combo guards. It’s the drop off from Jrue to everyone else that concerns me. Davis and Cousins can get you 50-60 a night, but we have to find a way to get 40-50 more. I’m getting flashbacks to the CP3/Chandler/West era where we just didn’t have a bench to speak of outside one or two players like Pargo and in part because we didn’t have someone that could facilitate when Paul was off the court. Until right near the end of the CP3 era that is.
Can we contact Rondo and let him know about water only fasting?
I got a feeling they are just being cautious and he won't require surgery
A month isn't so bad but yeah... we're cursed.
If it's exactly a month, that's about 11 or 12 games. So not a terrible long time. But still annoying as hell.
This injury is not so big a deal. The Hill injury is a bit meh since he should be back for the postseason. It's more the impending feeling of doom it cast over our PTSD riddled fan hearts. And Spaniard recounting all of my past traumas isn't helping!
Ian Clark, Jrue and Moore are going to have to deliver.
I think we can get the numbers we need for PPG to win.
AD: 28ppg
Cousins: 25ppg
Jrue: 17ppg
Cunningham: 7ppg
Moore: 13ppg
Crawford: 11ppg
Clark: 6ppg
Miller: 7ppg
Diallo: 4ppg
Ajinca: 3ppg
Tony Allen: 4ppg
I think we'll get about 105 ppg
I think we'll hold teams to 102ppg

"The pelican is fearsome. Take a raven, for example: it's omnivorous. It eats bugs, and seeds, and fruit, and carrion. Compared to the well-rounded citizen that is the raven, the pelican is the serial killer of birds." - Barry Petchesky, Deadspin
