Think they are waiting on a trade to go through first. At least that's what I heard on this board. Probably going to try to flip Ajinca and maybe Cook for some shooters.

This really cracked me up reading it. In 1 breath the Asik (deservedly so), Jrue (mildly deserved), Hill (Possibly a fine deal), Ajinca (Relatively irrelevant) and Moore (A fine deal) are getting absolutely crucified by Pels fans, and in the next breath the suggestions of players we need to get have equally bad if not worse contracts.

    Composite Poster:

My GOD, we paid that much for Jrue? Add that to the awful Asik and Hill contracts and we're completely effed.

Trade Idea: Let's Trade all our assets for Parsons and Knight.

It has to become official first. It's only been agreed upon right now. Nothing has been signed. Kushner suggested that we are probably trying to work another deal first.

If I had to guess Rondo probably agreed to take different amounts of money depending on what other deal(s) we could make happen.

I'm just worried that Rondo is going to destroy the locker room

The issue is offensively, Rondo took 20% of his shots from 16-23 ft and hes terrible at them, he also was terrible around the rim last year and never has been able to run a high level offense, even the 2010-11 Celtics were mediocre on that end. This team already has a lot of offensive problems, and Jrue is also a veey inneffecient guard, Its still really up to Gentry, AD and Cousins to figure this out offensively. Only under Monty has Davis' team had an above average offense and no one else not Cousins, not Holiday, or Rondo with the keys put together a good offense..

Here's the thing though, Rondo's corner 3 is legit, he shoots 44% from the corners on decent volume (like 150 shots over the last 2 seasons) but bad from other spots on the floor. If he rebranded himself as a pointgaurd who played good defense, handled it in transition, got the offense into their set and then played out of the corners for the rest of the possession hed be a 15 million dollar a year player. Hed be that good in that role. Just the little things hed bring as an extra passer, rebounder would make him invaluable.

The problem (again) is Rondo's ego is too big for that, and the Pelicans need too much out of him as a primary ballhandler. I personally dont trust a ball in Rondo's hands dominated offense to be above league average, but maybe it wont have to be if the Pelicans can improve on being a top 10 defense.
I agree with your point on the jumpers, but I think he'll figure out that AD is one of the best if not the best mid range shooters in the game, plus he likes assists anyway so he'll gladly pop it to AD for shots. I think you're right on the driving issues, and if he can't do that we're essentially screwed anyway. Thing is I think AD and Boogie will garner enough attention to allow him to work the seams for good looks, whether for him or for others.

The ego things is essentially the crux, if he can't get past that of course it's going to be really bad, but really he hasn't had teammates this good for close to 5 years, I think he'll gladly work with these guys because he can rely on them. The other thing is that Rondo has never been a big scorer anyway, he's less than 14 per game in his highest scoring seasons. He does all those other things you need in a good offence, which I think could really work out, though having Hill out there might clog up the lanes. Worse case scenario is that we have a similar problem to Minnesota last year with Rubio.

    He's really not.

DMC has more potential to destroy the locker room than Rondo

I doubt Cook is getting moved since he can play point plus shoot.

He's pretty underrated in his usefulness

Yeah! As of right now he's our only back up point guard. He's a pretty solid one too.

Jrue, Rondo, Cook and even Crawford are the guards I'd be happy with making plays

    That's not too bad really

Courtney Lee is the guard we need. Not sure how we get him, but he's who we need. A 1st and Asik for Lee would be my guess.

Our best shot would be as a 4th team in a Melo trade.

Would love to get Lee...I don't think we would need to give up a 1st. 2nd, Asik, and Cook would give us lee....I would rather sign Afflalo to a one year deal with BAE and so we can use that first for Wall next year.

If Asik is involved, we most probably would have to add our 1st. Courtney Lee would be a great fit here, but if we were to trade for him, I would think that would have to involve trading out Moore since they would be slotted into the same role as back-up SG, with Moore probably being better on defense, and Lee being the better at coming off screens as a shooter.

Still have that back-up SF spot that seems like should be the main focus to fill. Preferably one who is a 3-pt specialist who has the size to guard SF's. Jared Dudley is the name that keeps coming up as a good fit in that role, although at this point he's probably a stretch 4, and Cunningham could be retained in that role with better defense and rebounding.

So giving up a first rounder for average-ish, old SG on an almost-as-bad contract? I'd rather do a a straight dump or stretch Asik than take on another bad contract that give you production Dell can probably find with the BAE

Now that it was mentioned, I wonder what it would take to get Chandler Parsons.

    Cousins
    Davis
    Parsons
    Holiday
    Rondo

That sounds good to me. I have no problem with us shipping off Moore to get that deal done. We have Jordan Crawford as the firepower off the bench.

It would take pretty much nothing to get Chandler Parsons. He's on a horrendous contract and has shown no ability to stay on the floor. Memphis would kill for someone to take him off their hands.

Why would anyone want Parsons (other than Fletcher Mackel)? His contract is an albatross and he is coming off serious injury.

To me, you can complain about Dell signing/trading for bad contracts, or you can want to trade for Chandler Parsons. You can't do both.

The target floating around is Wes Matthews, which would make slightly more sense but I still hate it. I'd rather stretch Asik, use the MLE on Jackson/Rondo, and fill out the bench using TPEs

If we could get Matthews for say Asik/Moore and a 2nd, I would be fine. I would not be excited about having to part with a 1st rounder, but realize that Asik has no value.

This!!! I just think that 1st round pick has more value then using it to dump Asik. We could keep him then stretch him next year or trade him for peanuts. If we are going after John Wall...1st round picks are very important.
