People are assuming that rondo will come for a minimum.
But it is not certain.
His last deal in Chicago was for 13,4 millions (3 millions guaranteed).
So he earned for the 2017/18 season 3 millions already.
How much will he be willing to take?

Like I said, miserable person has his disciples that will still do whatever they can to try to save his rep.....or his multiple alter accounts do..............because yeah, Aus, he totally embarrassed himself this off-season.
Anyways. Back to Dell. You also have to take in mind WHEN he sees his deadline. It's like we're buying a car. He's the dad and we're essentially the teenagers waiting to get our laday and homeskillets out this weekend. Now we're getting antsy he hasn't gotten us a more pimped out ride, yet, even though really he got us a sweet thing earlier this year. Some of us our patient kids.....others are straight up Veruca Salts.....some even seem to be multiple accounts of a sad failed local sports writer trying to save his shattered ego......this is getting too long. The point is....Daddy Dell probably doesn't see a deadline this weekend. He wants us to have this new reliable ride when we go to college. Or in real life he may be aiming for next season. We missed out on the weekend sale (FA). But now we're seeing teams cut ties with decent talent. During the season teams wanting to tank will want to part with good older talent to get younger but worse to lose games. Then there is next off-season. Notice the Rondo thing is rumored for only one year. I know it's hard because we want the golden ticket now. But chiiiiiill.
Speculation sure is fun.
Oh look, there's some now.The fact is that other teams were very actively looking to move pieces that could have helped our team and Dell lost out or didn't bother. He had an 8mil MLE to use that he could guarantee a player a starting role at SG or SF with and couldn't get anyone, now hes signing a guy off the back of Cousins' work/recommendation who has a long history of being in the middle of team drama.
Like I said, I'll take it, but Dell just isn't looking like hes well received around the league. The only reason we got Cousins was Sac's vested interested in acquiring Hield. Nothing to do with Dell's ability as a GM.
Whatever you want to call it, yeah. Nothing significant has actually happened except Darius Miller and Frank Jackson. Two non-needle moving deals unless Miller is ready to be what Q-Pon was before his injury. But you mention history and how all of this will be remembered, if we the moves to bring in Bledsoe or we sign Rondo or we make some secret move that hasn't been leaked yet, what, it happened in a vacuum? Demps had nothing to do with it? I get it. Put up or shut up. But the NBA offseason seems pretty much on hold until the next big shoe drops in Melo. Are the Knicks sitting on their hands too? Oh wait. They just overpaid Tim Hardaway Jr.
Nevermind. We should be like them. They did a thing.
Let's let summer league end before we go crazy. Hell the season doesn't open for a few months. Let's at least see what are team will be to start the season. I like that we aren't forcing a deal just to make a deal. As for rondo, if he is cheap and runs our second unit I'm on. Go Pels!!
Wait, what's this about Rondo?
Oh yeah, Demps is meeting with him in Louisville. While simultaneously sitting on his hands. Must be an awkward way to have a conversation.
Also, I don't think Rondo would come off the bench. I think he'd be in our starting and ending five.
If he were a better shooter, he wouldn't still be on the market. Or be out of our price range.
I'll give our wordsmith friend Impose credit on one front. Demps is in a hole. One he dug himself with all the 2nd and 3rd tier contracts to 4th and 5th tier players at best like Hill or Asik. Gotta either hope we can convince a team to bail us out by taking Asik off our hands or...pretty much that's it.
Would explain a delay. Not just simple inactivity.
I think we can all move along now hey? No need to make this any bigger than it already is.
IF we were to sign Rondo, it would be nice to have a high bbiq player who can feed the bigs. shooting is not something you would put in the plus column. I think the real question is the regular season motivation - he is a smart guy, he needs to challenge himself and the team to perform together. Whatever it is going to take to work night in and out. Being that the team has two big stars and real potential, could it burn a few internal embers that this could be a real opportunity to do something? A locked in starting unit of rondo/jrue/hill/ad/boogie on the defensive end alone would be a nightmare to deal with, but that takes hard work. Whether he even comes on board is the first question, getting ahead of myself haha.
There's a difference between "not doing anything", and "not getting desired results".
He has not been "sitting on his hands", as you put it. The deals that he was trying to get done... he hasn't gotten it done. That doesn't mean he has not been doing anything.
In your words, Dell has been out on the beach chillin while other teams have been making moves. That's not the case. Dell has been trying to get things done, but he has not gotten any results from his work. The reason could be many.
He could be turning down moves because he feels we may be getting screwed in a trade.
Or a player may be asking for too much money.
Who knows? He's not gonna make a move just to satisfy you. He's gonna do what's in the best interest of the Pelicans.
Its been reported he has been trying to get things don, but I wouldn't say that he has been "sitting on his hands".
I'm not gonna put Rondo in a Pel uni until he actually signs.
* Edit - And Jokic is ridiculous.

It has nothing to do with defending Dell. You're wrong and instead of just accepting it you dig in further and deny. There is a reason multiple people have stepped in now to correct you.
You say Dell has done nothing this off season. That is incorrect. He hasn't done things you want -ok- but that is different than doing nothing. Anytime you sign a player to a 25m/yr contract that's the exact opposite of doing nothing.
How many players have we heard about Dell talking to? How many rumored trades is he working on? It has been reported by an actual beat writer for the Pelicans that Dell is working on stuff constantly. I find it funny that in the thread about Dell meeting with Rondo someone is complaining Dell is doing nothing.
Because something does not happen in a time frame -you- want doesn't mean nothing is happening. It means you're being impatient and quite frankly, childish.
I think what people don't understand is maybe the pelicans are offering players in trades or trying to sign them, but the other party(player or gm) chooses to go somewhere else or not take the deal? It takes two to tango. I am not even a fan of Dell, but I believe he is trying. We honestly do not have a lot to offer. Mid 1st round pick and a bunch of depth players with no quality starters we want to give up. It is hard to get a lot from those assets. We already heard Benson does not want to be in the Luxury Tax so can't spend a ton of money like other teams. People forget that Benson just took a huge hit settling the lawsuit. I know he is rich, but even rich people don't want to spend a lot of money after that big a hit.
The way I understand it is that Gentry's still running his particular offense. I mean, Finch came up with the Jokic offense because Jokic is awesome and can play that style. And Cousins can run a similar style...
But our offense isn't going to fully, 100% run the same way the Nuggets do. We'll incorporate some of Finch's concepts into the PnR style offense we're running now. In fact, since we're gonna stagger AD and Cousins, I imagine the lineup with Cousins only on the floor will look more like the Finch offense, whereas the AD offense will be totally difference since AD isn't the same level of passer.
I agree theres going to have to be a lot of pick n roll offense when Boogie is off the court. AD is probably a better passer than we give him credit for since hes been #1, #2 and #3 best option on offense for so long and we haven't had great cutters. But I can see problems with Rondo, Jrue and Hill starting games as far as spacing goes. Defenses will live with Hill or Rondo shooting wide open 3's and I don't think they'll be efficient enough to punish it. Our best shooters are Moore and Crawford and they'll be fighting each other for minutes or playing out of position.
I think (hope) Frank Jackson is gonna be productive for us sooner rather than later.
Jokic offence won't work 100% with our wings
We don't have the quick cutters, shooters or talent they have YET
I for one would be really happy with Rondo on a one year deal. Checks a lot of boxes for this team:
+tight with Boogie which increases trust with him to re-sign here long term
+championship and playoff experienced veteran player (have to have a least some players who've been there before)
+true floor general pass-first PG. Point-Center Boogie is a cool element of the offense they can incorporate sometimes, but having a PG who can get everyone involved with a deep intuitive understanding of game flow management would be a big plus
+Frees up Jrue to mainly focus on scoring on offense and more energy to lead the defense
+has just enough crazy mad dawg streak along with Boogie to give this team an edge that's crucial to winning teams (Dray, T.Allen, etc.) And this team has enough of a good nice-guy lock room and staff to balance him out and keep him in check
+he will probably be motivated to make it work here, best team situation he will have been in since Boston champ teams, with two mega stars who compliment his skillset and a real opportunity to go deep in the playoffs
Do agree that 3 point shooting of supporting players would be even more crucial now. Jrue, Solo, and Moore (and Crawford and Cunningham?) will have to be really dependable from 3, and ideally one or two more 3-point specialists (Dudley, Barbosa, G. Green, Speights come to mind).
Cousins/ Speights
Davis / Cunningham/ Diallo
Hill / Dudley
Holiday/ Moore/ Crawford
Rondo/ Barbosa/ Cook/ F. Jackson
