I compare Trey Burke to those good little guys to make a couple points....

    1.) Size matters...those guys haven't swung titles.

2.) You can find them easier. They are not a dime a dozen..but just like a decent looking guy can get lucky if he shuts up... A decent GM can find a nice caretaker PG with some offensive punch without using the 6th pick of the draft when your team lacks a lot.

Again, what kind of standard are we holding Trey Burke to? Now he's "only" as good as all-star Terrell Brandon, but not as good as Chris Paul. These are his negatives?

If we knew or thought Trey Burke was Terrell Brandon, we take him with the #6 pick in this awful draft. No question. No debate.

What exactly does everyone see happening here with this pick?

I see Otto Porter becoming the small forward of the future.

And what's wrong with drafting that with the 6th pick in a weak draft? I think if we could draft a Terrell Brandon with this pick, everyone would be happy.

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

Also, because I thought that sounded crazy. We were talking:

    Penny Hardaway
    Jason Kidd
    Gary Payton
    Tim Hardaway
    Stephon Marbury
    John Stockton
    Mark Jackson
    Kevin Johnson
    Rod Strickland
    Damon Stoudemire
    Allen Iverson
    etc etc

Terrell made the all-star game in back to back seasons and scored double digits in both games. I only mention this because I actually like the comparison. Though again, Trey Burke is a couple inches taller. And that would be one major score for us.

I said 30% Burke is taken 6th the other day because if Len, Noel, Porter, Oladipo, and McLemore are off the board when they pick, I don't think they really love anybody. Burke probably has the best value on the board, and we really are just drafting stocks, so I think they can take him. Then, if Utah is on the clock at 14 and they don't like anyone, make them give you Kanter and 14 for him. Or use him as a bargaining chip this summer the way Houston did with Lamb. Or keep him and see if it works out.
As much as I love Burke's game, I'd do this trade in a heartbeat. I love Kanter's game, but I don't think Utah would do this.

I'd like it just to see the meltdown of the Burke fanboys who would be teased with us having Burke And I like Burke.

Sounds like Bledsoe or Avery Bradley.
Or Carter-Williams. I'd disagree with the pick, since I prefer Burke and generally rather an offensively-driven PG than a defensive one. But Carter-Williams is a pretty big-time defensive prospect.

Nothing. If people would listen I have never said I wouldnt take him. I have said I do not think Monty and Dell will. HUGE difference

I'm basing my want to draft Burke on his talent level now and the one I think he can eventually get to.
look everyone's opinion on burke and any other player for that matter is subjective..that is what makes it somebody's opinion...nobody's opinion on someone should be thought of as factual..that is where healthy, RESPECTFUL debates come in...we all should be open minded when it comes to debating these players and listen to other point of views to get a complete background of the issues

it seems silly to me and rather pointless to have your mind set that you are right and someone is wrong(this is not directed towards anyone)...do you think dell has a closed mind? no, he listens to the rest of the staff and weighs every opinion

every opinion on this board should be valued...not attacked...and please let's avoid the arrogance of assuming you are right and others are wrong when in fact this is all subjective

    {this entire post, though a reply to da throne's post, is not directed to him or any other member but to the board collectively}
