Thread: Would this lineup work?

    Would this lineup work?

I got bored so I went on the kings forum and wanted to gather their thoughts on tyreke evans. They apparently hope the kings match any offer he gets and they keep him. as a rookie he was a 20-5-5 guy but then reduced his numbers but they said it was due to the coaches not using him correctly and moving him for pg to sg to sf back to sg. Im a big tyreke fan, he can dribble, drive, score, pass, and rebound. He finally developed a mid range and 3 point game this year and shot 35% from 3, increased his shooting % and lowered his turnovers. This shows me he is on the right track, putting in the work, and on pace for a break out year. He is still only 23. My question is say Burke is gone and we take shabazz how would u feel about this lineup?

He's also known for being a good kid, and being a good defender when he applies himself, I think Monty could turn him into a stud defender and everyone on their forum is saying he will have a breakout year this year and are expecting something like 22-5-5.

    Tyreke
    Gordon
    Shabazz
    Ryno
    Davis

Now imagine we take GV or Lopez and package him with our pick and move up to get otto porter

    tyreke
    gordon
    porter
    ryno
    davis

For being 6"6 tyreke has unnatural quickness and handles for his size, the only thing holding him back was his jumper and if it continues to stick around he is nearly unstopable.

    blast away at me

I have hard time looking at any lineup with AD at center but the one with Porter not bad. Now Bazz is on my don't want list so I definitely don't like the first one but it could work if I'm wrong about Bazz and AD being a C and Tyreke being a PG. Damn that would really make me look bad wouldn't it? Oh well
We want more! We want more!

omg regardless of bazz what do yall think of a tyreke/gordon guard combo? lol i think they compliment each other perfectly.

I like it as well. Tyreke Evans would be a perfect fit to play next to a smaller shooting guard like Eric Gordon. I thought Marcus Thornton and he would compliment each other really well considering he is a smaller 2 guard. He and AD both played for Calipari, so they would have something in common. I would bet that they already know each other cause he most likely attended some Kentucky practices while AD was there. Another positive to adding Evans would be that he could easily move to shooting guard if Austin Rivers becomes the point guard I think he will be. Then we could move Gordon down the road, if we don't move him sooner anyway. I think with his size he can play small forward even though that is not his best position on the court. Just cause he didn't perform all that great at the position with the lowly Kings doesn't mean he can't play it effectively. I think the thing that makes him so attractive as a ball player is his versatility to play multiple positions. He is not the best point guard in the world, but with Rivers & Gordon able to initiate the offense he wouldn't be the primary ball handler at all times anyway. If he gets on a decent team with a good coach the sky is the limit for this kid. He just needs someone to believe in him and an organization that is competent. I think he will end up being a steal for some team this offseason unless he demands a boat load of cash & some incompetent team pays him. Which IMO will hurt him cause it will most likely be a bottom dweller. If he doesn't demand too much money and joins a team like the Pelicans; I could see him make multiple All Star teams.

Personally I don't think Otto Porter is worth Bazz + GV + Lopez. I'd rather draft Bazz and keep both of them so we have a good bench.

Not sure we would get our bigs involved enough with Gordon and Evans as the primary ball handlers. Neither Anderson nor Davis are guys you can just pass the ball to and clear out. Neither Gordon or Evans are great shooters(especially Tyreke). Porter would most likely offer better floor spacing than Muhammad. If Gordon is healthy and back to his old ways we should be tough defensively in the backcourt, however playing Anderson and Davis major mins together makes us weak in the post both offensively and defensively. Honestly I can see Muhammad being the better on ball defender than Porter, although with Porter length and IQ he'll be a better team defender.

In summary don't love this squad. Solid, but I projected far too many holes to be highly competive moving forward.

I'm leaning towards drafting a late SF this year and draft a SF high next year. I think there is better value in 2's and 5's this year so strengthen those positions. I don't want to reach on any position if possible.

A SF that can shoot will improve the teams offensive spacing. I think Aminu on defense is wonderful but kills spacing on the offensive side. That's why I liked southerland from Syracuse as a late pick. He can shoot lights out but not sure if the zone defense will transition to the nba well.

The only three people that I could legitimately see starting at point guard for this team for the next 3-4(?) years are these:
    Rivers
    Vasquez
    Burke

I'd say anything else is a pipe dream.

I actually like Evans at the three as long as we get someone else to patrol the rim with Davis and keep Aminu for the bench. Evans is a slasher and that is what we need at the three. Rotations with him, Gordon, and Ryno would be instant offense. I think Evans' defense at three would be good enough to pester people and he would get some steals because of his deceptive long arms.

I agree with everything except Porter offering more spacing than Bazz. His biggest strength is how good off the ball he is. He would fit perfect in a system where Gordon / Evans are primary handlers and he stretches the floor. You combine Bazz a great offensive rebounder with Anderson a very good offensive rebounder and Davis and that is a really good offensive rebounding team and as Davis gains bulk he will make up for any lack of rebounding for Anderson on defense.
