NBA Draft Trends How Teams Make Their Selection

    West Conference Teams

    Eastern Conference Teams

Interesting stat in that the Pelicans have only drafted one foreign player since 1998 and the Pelicans have heavily favored players from the SEC. Unfortunately, the SEC (Minus Kentucky players) has a disproportionate share of players drafted who play for bottom dwellers. The consistent NBA franchises power teams tend to favor drafting non-major conferences, foreigners, & ACC players.

Honestly, all of those statistics need to be thrown out the window. This is a new Regime/Ownership/Staff. The sample size is too small right now for the Pelicans.

In the Shinn era, we had virtually no scouting department and literally no Euro Scouts. None. We purchased our scouting reports.

Demps has completely redone the scouting department, especially foreign, so hopefully that will pay dividends.

We don't even need to draft them.

We can just go out and get another Ayon which we turn into a Ryno.

    Brilliant.

I knew we didn't scout Europe, but did we really have to buy our scouting reports?

    Either way, LOL at Shinn.

    Very VERY misleading comment.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

I've never been a big fan of the foreign players, but it's interesting how the top few teams get their players from overseas. I'm not completely buying into that being the reason for their success, but it is interesting.

Man oh man, do we need more evidence of how badly the Shinn era sucked for this franchise?

Once again, Ryno was a free agent signing. Ayon was merely just a throw in so we could clear a spot for Ryno, while helping out Orlando.
