Thread: Looking at SG

    Draft Looking at SG

If you believe that Eric Gordon is not part of the Hornets future, and I just happen to believe that, then SG moves to the top of the list of needs. If McLemore doesn't fall, and I think he could, Caldwell-Pope is a player that I think the Pelicans have to be looking at. He offers shooting (something we don't have outside of Ryno) and perimeter defense. I actually think that KCP is at the top of Demps' wish list. Can't wait to see it all play out.

BPA. The only position you shy away from is PF unless that player is leaps and bounds better than anybody else available.

I agree with BPA. Completely. I just happen to think that KCP will be one of the best players to come out of this draft. And his size, shooting, explosiveness, and defense are needed on this team.

  4. #4
I can see us taking Caldwell-Pope or McCollum.

  5. #5
If only KCP could be an inch or 2 taller, we could play him at the 3 spot.

I saw a mock with him as high as 7, so who knows... but I'd take Dipo over Pope in your scenario.

If the three are gone, I want this kid instead of Bazz or Zeller or Len or MCW.

For better or worse, Eric Gordon is part of the equation and part of the solution. I am not really worried about him. His money isn't a hindrance, yet and there's a chance he could still be everything we need. Let's just wait and see.

What I like with Bazz is that he should an insurance in the future if EG goes down for a few games, next to Austin.
KCP is a very exciting prospect, he could bring a lot with his shooting. Plus we need more effective transition finishers ! I wish Aminu could turn into this kind of player a la Batum !

I just watched his DX video and I think you might be right. He's a good shooter and will space the floor on offense. His high rebounds, steals and highlights of blocking multiple sure thing slam dunk fast breaks shows he has the hustle and athletic ability to be a good defender. The main knocks against him are shot selection, which I've seen blamed on lack of teammates to take pressure off, consistency on defense, and attacking more and jump shooting less. All of his weaknesses are coachable.

Is it safe to say that Mcclemore and KCP are similar? Or may turn into the same kind of player?

Based off of watching one highlight video?

I would love to get the Mavs pick and get KCP there, along with Schroeder with our first pick.

It's not a highlight video, but yes. I know a lot about those four and want nothing to do with two of them.

Why do people believe that another player that is brought to this team, will want to be here. Gordon should be the Pelicans SG for as long as possible.

Well unless we trade for said players they will have signed here as a FA or drafted. If they sign as a FA they clearly want to be here. If we draft them than we have there rights for a long time.

As for Gordon as long as possible depends on whether or not he wants to be here. If he doesn't want to be here letting him opted out and get nothing for him is extremely foolish.

Watched it too. Dude can't dribble. At least not at guard level. Aminu handle better than his.
We want more! We want more!

McCollum would be my pick if none of the "big 5" are available.

He's the BPA in my opinion, and I don't see how he fails. I have no doubt he'll be a great scorer at the next level. Along with his scoring he brings great rebounding, the ability to create turnovers on D, and all of the intangibles a coach would want.

If Gordon is not in the plans for the future - which I don't think he is - I think McCollum would be a very good pick. I think he and Austin playing together would do as well as Austin and Gordon, if not better thanks to McCollum's superior rebounding.

Pope is similar to Lance Stephenson to me. I think Pope has the ability to become a tank as well, with the ability to finish in traffic. He has an excellent frame.
