That's the thing, it's not performance hindering for everyone. To me, it's one of those things where the individual should choose what's best for him. Not saying its for everyone though, especially immature jr smith lol

But the potential is there for everyone. Players shouldn't be risking having dulled reaction time on gamedays just to get drunk/high. Any kind of psychoactive substance should be used with the greatest of care.

I certainly hope this article isn't true. I still want JR to turn things around and make the most of his ability.
Old fan. Tired fan. I want to believe.

Lemme clarify myself. BINGE drinking and smoking before a game is not good. But one joint or a shot to calm the nerves is ok in my book. There are prescription/medicated drugs taken by players that cause drowsiness and impairs vision and all that other crap.

I understand what you are saying, but to just play devil's advocate, if we can't trust the players with liqour or anything, should we trust them with other stuff? Like, should we allow players the freedom to leave the hotel room at all, no curfews or anything? Even though spare time might not harm some players, spare time might allow a player to find trouble or not get any rest. Should we trust players with social media/phones? Contact with friends/family can cause them to lose focus on the game tomorrow? Should we limit the money players are allowed to spend in order to protect from buying stuff that can hurt them, like drugs and women. lol

See what I mean, it's all about how discipline the person is, whether it's weed or time or whatever. And it's clear that weed and alcohol are no the reasons why JR Smith is going through what he is going through. He's going what he is going through because he is immature and not disciplined.

It's illegal. So no, it's not what the individual wants.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

even at $400/ounce (the good stuff), $1500 gets you almost 4 ounces of weed (1/4 lb)
4 ounces may not sound like much, but that's well over 100 joints (depending on the roller)
no way JR & crew are going thru 15 joints a day unless they are just giving it away, in which case its not really JR going thru $1500 of weed a week, is it?
