I just read that Jason Smith has a partial guaranteed contract for next season.
Could anyone confirm this? If that means we could get out of that deal if we wanted too?

Shamsports says his $2,500,000.00 is unguaranteed.
$1m guaranteed. Pay that and he goes. $2.5m to stay.

Why in the world would we not pay him 2.5M to stay?
"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

We have 35M on the books next season.
With Aminu, Henry & Mason not with the team next season I dont think we have to worry about the Lux.
Being over the cap doesn't necessarily put you into the luxury tax.
No way in Hell Jason Smith goes to save $2.5. No Way!
The deal was asked after, and now we know.
No one is suggesting that exercising the option is a good idea or a bad one.
Close the thread.
Exactly, why would we want him to walk?
I'm not suggesting we move on from him, I was just bringing up something most people were not aware of and trying to figure what it means.
They negotiated a get out of Jail for 40% card when the made the 3y deal after not making him a restricted free agent going into the lockout. That's all.
Partially/totally ungauranteed contracts are increasingly popular as trade chips...even more so as the luxury becomes more punitive.
