So "New Orleans Brass" was trademarked at or around the day Benson bought the team by Roy Rodney, a local attorney who was sentenced to prison in 2008 for his shady business dealings with Marc Morial.

It says that the "Publication/Issue Review Complete" date is 12/14/12, this past Friday. I don't know what that means.

No clue about the technical stuff, but I wonder if he can make the name Crescent City Brass, or would that be considered a colorable imitation or something too close. I fact, throwing Crescent City in front of any name that has been trademarked may be an option...if it's legal of course.

This is standard practice. People get a chance to object to trademarks before registration, for instance, if it would negatively affect someone's existing trademark.

Rodney used to own the Brass. He just updated the description to include basketball. Likely just squatting.

HOPEFULLY it's the secondary color. One reason why I wouldn't mind if that logo that Driveman leaked was correct (Navy and Gold w/ red as trim).

The one guy with a "source" on the other board said that it would be announced "in a couple of weeks". That was last week. So, yeah nothing.

It is kind of counter-productive to announce it anytime soon with the team doing so well. I'd expect a March or April announcement when we know more of the future draft and FA status.

No, but at this point I'm feeling like it'd be a total shock if they busted out with anything else. But that's just conjecture.

I'd be shocked if the announcement came mid-season. I can't think of any pro sports team that announced a rebrand during the season. The LA Galaxy did rebrand in the middle of their season when Beckham joined the team, but that's a huge outlier.

Rebrands, and their announcements, occur in the offseason, and I see no indication that a Hornets-to-Pelicans switch will be any different. The last NBA team to completely rebrand (name/logo/colors/uni) without moving was the Bullets-to-Wizards rebrand in 1997, which occurred in mid-May 1997, about two weeks after the end of the Bullet's season.

I'd bet our rebrand will come sometime between the end of our season and the draft, which is June 27th.

All the talk about it happening after the season is on point.

Pelicans is it. It's all but official. I think of it as they are engaged to Pelicans. Unless something magical happens or Pelicans gets hit by a bus, then it's Pelicans. No information that's been made available that is actually traceable and verifiable says anything else.

Numerous people have quoted their magical sources and people with hopes have given them creedence only to be burned time and again.

Could it not be Pelicans? Yes. Can I flip a coin 10 times and have `heads' come up all 10 times? Yes.

It's going to be Pelicans, and I'm going to get tail in all likelihood.

If anyone knows anything else, I'd love to read it.
