I hear ya talking cause Warrick is better than Carrol but the Hornets are doing as they should and keeping their talented nucleus which if over-forward/ laden right now

To me, this is the most important question and the one thing I don't like about the trade. Carroll will not be able to be offered as part of a package until Jan.13th, where Warrick could have been packaged today with Henry or anybody else.

It just limits Dell's flexibility for two months- and for what? Not that this makes this a terrible trade, just a C- for me personally. You traded non-factor for non-factor and lost flexibilty

New Orleans Hornets point guard Matt Carroll, who was acquired in a trade from the Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday in exchange for forward Hakim Warrick, still has not reported and is expected to miss Friday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

When asked about Carroll's status after Thursday’s practice, Hornets Coach Monty Williams said there have been discussions going on between Carroll’s agent and Hornets General Manager Dell Demps. Though Williams wouldn't elaborate on the specifics about the discussions, team officials said they intend to give an update on Carroll's status Friday.

Maybe hes just going to retire? I find it hard to believe a guy like Carrol would be pressing for a buyout if hes a great teammate everyone says he is. My only other idea would be Demps having something up his sleeve.

Save 500,000 K on the buyout? Whilst providing a good-will move for Hakim. Also frees up an extra roster space to come back in a trade or free agent signing.

Why? If we save money on a buyout and create a roster spot that may be needed later, what is wrong with that? Warrick was not playing and it was doubtful that Carroll would get any playing time, so why not save money and open up a roster spot?

My only other idea would be Demps having something up his sleeve.

I don't know how anyone could NOT think that's what's happening. I'll bet that Dell just made Warrick's contract completely disappear, maybe save for whatever buyout money remains on the books for this year À la Thashard Lewis Hornet's between-seasons MVP. Dell makes all the red evaporate from the books. This offseason or next he's gonna blow all that cap space at one time and then we dynasty party!
