    The internet is forever.

And if you said AD is; robin, not in the upper echelon of the NBA, gets owned by ALL other Big men, was a better player under Monty friggin Williams....carry that shame with you forever.

The internet is forever. But context is still important.

AD was playing like a Robin during this stretch. Not only that but he was playing like he had given up.

Things changed, Cousins called him and got his head on straight, but that doesn't take away that he played lost for a few games after the Cousins injury.

During this stretch AD averaged 27 points, 10 rebounds 2 assist and 2 blocks. He scored 14 and 15 pts against the Jazz and 76ers but to say he played like he had given up during that stretch is just not true. 2 bad games and the "fans" call you Robin?

Saying as this thread was about the 76ers game where AD played terrible, yes.

This revisionist history where people try and drag up old topics for some out of context type of shaming is weak, pathetic, and embarrassing to the petty individual trying to do the shaming.

AD looked like he had no heart during these games, he looked like he had given up...

Not only did fans recognize this but Cousins did too because he called AD to ask him WTF he was doing and get him to screw his head back on straight.

Anyone looking back on these games and saying they are content with the performance of AD is wrong. AD wasn't even content with his own performance in them. The 76ers game was the culmination of them and showed just how bad it was until it was corrected.

Fans are allowed to call out their star when he isn't playing right. What he does in the future is irrelevant to what he did in the past performance wise. AD corrected his play and started playing like what all fans wanted him to be doing from the beginning. Does that somehow mean he wasn't terrible in the 76ers game? No! He still was. It just means he was able to get out of the funk and play to the level everyone wanted.

Criticism and Praise are not mutually exclusive; just because you criticize someone in the past doesn't mean you can't praise them for the present.

Well said. The source of my frustration with AD at the time was we knew that AD was capable of playing at a much higher level. Nobody ever questioned his talent. And the fact that he was holding himself back through his own mentality and lack of effort made it all the more frustrating.

Just because he is playing out of his mind right now, it doesn't minimize his subpar play post-Boogie injury. Credit to him for turning it around, but his energy level and production in the present is much improved from the aforementioned stretch, and that required taking corrective action. Corrective action that I called for, Mythrol called for, and several other fans called for in this thread. Heck, even Boogie talked to AD and told him to get his head in the game and out of his butt.

I stand by the comments I made about him in this thread wholeheartedly because it was an accurate evaluation of his play at the time they were posted. Context is a real thing and your dismissal of that for the purposes of fan shaming is truly weak.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

if you are going to be honest then you clearly saw that AD mentally check out after boogie got hurt......to back that up is 3 things imo.....1),,his play and body language on the court..dude was out of it after his partner in crime went down......2)..AD gave an interview and said that with boogie he believed that we could have went to the title game.......3),,,AD said out his mouth that boogie had to call him and ask what the f are he's doing out there and play ball.......

AD believing with boogie this was a title team and the fact that boogie had to get in his chit to tell him to man up and play ball,,make me believe that he check out after boogie went down and yes he deserved to be called out on it and im glad boogie was on this team to be the one to call him out.......

He played below his usual standard for a couple of games while adjusting to a huge loss in Cousins going down. Its one thing to be critical of his performance in those 2 games, its another thing to disparage him as a player and try to draw conclusions about his ability and personal attributes based on 2 games. If you did that, then you've made your basketball opinions look much less credible. You've made yourself look like a fair weather fan with no appreciation for the franchise player who made the team relevant.

All a person can do is evaluate based on the evidence that we have at the time. Until this recent stretch of games AD had never shown himself to be the heart of a team. He was always immensely talented but his quiet demeanor lead itself to others taking the role of vocal and emotional leader of the team.

The year we made the playoffs it was Tyreke that provided that. This year it was Cousins. It wasn't just the numbers AD put up during the losing stretch after Cousins injury. It was his body language. Anyone who watches those games could see he was mentally checked out and disheartened.

AD said something key during All Star Week. He said he was going to Westbrook it. Which is exactly what everyone was calling for him to do even before Cousins injury, his entire career. And look at the results so far, not just career numbers but all time best ever Numbers.

AD needed to become a monster. Not just a monster but he needed to become selfish. Too often in his early career he has been content to allow others to take over. He was selfless to a fault. The string of bad games after the Cousins injury was a culmination of everyone seeing what potential AD had but him never fully realizing it himself...

Until, he did. I can see this being a defining moment for AD. The moment he realized what it took to become an all time great and for the first time ever fully embracing that. It's almost as if he had to go through a low to be able to reach a greater high.

So what Godly numbers are we going to see nightly now? Will he win the scoring title?
