These words should not be used lightly
To sum up all the rumored deals, Pels have inquired about:
- Mirotic
- Jordan Clarkson
- Tyreke Evans
- Kent Bazemore
This actually goes along with what Jake Madison mentioned a week ago. The Pels office sees holes at the wing, the guard, and in needing another big. So they are casting a wide net and zeroing in on whoever brings back the best haul for their limited assets. But as one of the few buyers in a market of sellers, they are hoping to leverage that to their benefit.
Of all those supposed inquiries, Mirotic certainly seems like the clear and away best option. Strange to see Evans pop up after it seemed clear he didn’t exactly gel well with a ball movement offense last go round.
Fills a need, is a very positive/moveable contract, and is arguably the best talent of that bunch.
Moore + Asik + 1st for Dedmond + Baze
It would be kinda funny/ironic if we brought back Evans.

That would have Pels taking in around 3 mil more in salary, which they can't do because of hard cap. Add in Ajinca and it works, maybe even makes some sense, but not really with Bazemore's huge salary that escalates each year http://www.spotrac.com/nba/atlanta-h...azemore-11079/ and while he would help some, not a needle-mover while loosing Moore, too.
Is it just me? I am not a huge fan of Bazemore especially on his salary.

I think Evans new found humbleness has probably helped a lot.
His issue was always he was a ball dominant guard that wants to do things his way, who isn’t good enough to lead a team and bend to his will, but wanted to be that guy. As a willing sixth man that has improved his jumper, he becomes much more amenable to more teams rosters.
If we give up a first for Evans that would be really frustrating though.

No way we give up a 1st for Evans..man Memphis are asking for a lot.
A first round pick for a rental is a steep price.
Yeah when a first can get you Mirotic or George Hill, chances are Memphis will end up taking a second rounder from the team they think will be picking lowest.
i read those articles this week and last, with clarkson especially last week.

not a bad proposition but the money doesn't work and Bazemore is a negative move.
Bazemore is basically Etwaun except Baze plays better defense but worse on offense. I know WS/48 doesn't predict everything but they are identical between the 2. Both play SG, both are about the same size, Etwaun is 2 years younger. The big kicker is Baze is making $16.9 mil/3 years & Etwaun is making $8.4 mil/3 years.
Hard pass on that deal
What I would look to do is something like Asik/Ajinca/Diallo/1st for Dedmon/Ilyasova/Belli
Accomplishes the need of depth (at least for this season), limiting AD's total minutes and minutes at C, and dumps salary
Another name that hasn't been talked about is Nerlens Noel. Not a great situation in Dallas for him. I wonder if we throw Ajinca/Diallo/2nd for Noel/Ferrell (or JJ Barea) out there do they bite?

Yeah it was mentioned we had been in contact a few weeks ago about a trade revolving around Carroll. I haven’t heard much else since than. I assume that’s still in the mix. But who knows?
